REALLY pale skin - makeup?

NJ Bride, on July 2, 2011 at 5:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

So I have REALLY pale skin... I don't typically wear makeup except for tinted lip gloss (for special occasions I'll wear some neutrogena "mineral sheers" powder, blush and lip stick). Anyway, I'm looking to wear something a little more substantial for the wedding to keep through all the pics and everything, but I went into a dept store today and went to the Elizabeth Arden counter ('cause I have a blush from them that I really like) and everything was too dark for my skin. They didn't make a foundation pale enough! I did find, however, that I like "tinted moisturizers" better than foundations... they're more sheer, but they were all too dark as well. Anyway, any help any fellow pale brides can give would be great! I DID get lipstick that I like from Clique (and my fav. lipstick years ago was from there) so I'm thinking of trying them soon, but I'd love direction from anyone who actually knows! Smiley smile I just want something that looks like I'm not wearing makeup, just evens it out.

I'm very, very pale also. I found that Revlon PhotoReady is great, you can even layer it if you want more coverage and it doesn't look cakey.

As you can see, Im not pale, but I do know makeup; Revlon Photo Ready, Several Brands@ Sephora, and Bobbi Brown may work for you.

Try some from Bare Escentuals (did i mis-spell that correctly? LOL their name kills me!) they've worked super well for me when I'm at my palest in the winter, and I'm not even as pale as they do! AND i NEVER get breakouts from the quality - they're superb! Smiley smile A bit expensive, but it lasts!

I am very pale too. I tell people that I give Casper a run for his money. LOL. Anyway, I use Avon and sometimes Maybeline mineral make up. Their lightest shades are perfect for me.

I think women with fair skin look nice with a blush making them look rosey!

Also, FYI to anyone thinking of Bare Escentuals/Minerals: This is the make-up I use daily, but am not using it on my wedding day since the photographers and make-up artists have advised against it since it reflects light and are not the best make-up for wedding photos. I'm going to MAC at the mall and having them do my make-up for the $50 merchandise purchase req.

I went to a makeup artist at my salon. Here's what I got: The first was the lighter look we started with, the second two are the more dramatic look we tried after.

I love almays products. They make skin matching bases that actually seem to work and blend really well without leaving skin dry and cakey looking. My skin is super sensitive and its the only thing I use!

I worked at Ulta for two years... Smashbox Cosmetics and Bare Escentuals (Bare Minerals) both have very pale colors. Smashbox does have tinted moisturizer as well as a large selection of different kinds of foundations. If you prefer powder try either the Bare Escentuals or the Smashbox Halo foundation. If you prefer liquid Smashbox has multiple liquid selections. I'm not sure if they have Ulta where you live but try either there or Sephora to test makeup; if not i'm sure a large department store has them or you may have a Bare Escentuals boutique nearby.

Hi, i am a professional makeup artist-photographer in NC

I would suggest to go to the nearest MAC cosmetics counter (or any of your choice) and get matched.

The reason i mentionned MAC, is because they have such an amazing range of textures and tones of makeup, and they are known for their diversitySmiley smile

I am very fair-skinned myself (thanks for the Welsh pallor, Mom!). My BM did my makeup, and used Tarte cheek stain instead of blush, and dusted just a little Clinique bronzer across the bridge of my nose, just above the eyebrows, and just above the cheekbones - the places where sun would naturally hit you.

(Paging Nik, her fave photo is coming up....)

Is there an Alta store in your city? They sell many different kinds of cosmetics and one of their sales people might be able to help you. My niece used to manage an Alta store. She is as pale as anyone can be. I believe she uses the Bare Minerals line.

I'm really pale too, and I plan on footing the bill for good make-up...if anything try MAC, they usually have a good selection on foundations, if anything your local mall should have a kiosk for MICAbella products, they are all natural and have a TON of colors/shades to choose from. I bought some of their eye shadows a few years back and they were awesome, I loved them. Their products are so versitile it's not even funny, you can use the ONE eyeshadow for everything from nail polish to lipgloss and even mascara...That's what I'm getting for my wedding, being I don't really trust anyone but myself doing my make-up, I had a professional do it once and I came out looking like a clown...
