Question about table linens?

Maci, on May 22, 2012 at 2:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

Should I just use the basic white linens provided and just add runners in our colors or do table linens in our colors?

I figure if I go with the basic white linens (that are included) it will save me some extra cash.

I added runners, they weren't very expensive and added just enough color.. I considered napkins in my colors, but am glad I decided I didn't need them, because I didn't...

Runners or napkins in your colors on the white tablecloths!

We had to get our own linens either way so we have purple table linens with champagne napkins. Overlays are also an inexpensive color option.

I am doing a napkin in the middle of the table over the white plain tablecloth.

I figured by the time the place settings are put down, you really can't see the standard white tablecloths.

Plus I got 15 napkins for $18 bucks.

    They were 20x20 in size.

CKJL5410: Our colors are light pink, gold, green, and white. If we do table clothes we are making them b/c that is the cheapest option for us.

What does the rest of your venue look like? I didn't want to spend extra on the colored table linen, but we decided to because the walls are cream, the ceiling is cream, the carpet is cream, the table clothes that were included were cream, the china is cream...everything but the chairs were cream color and the room looks very washed out and bland without some color. So we ordered brown overlays and orange napkins (fall wedding) to bring some color into the room. If your venue has some color to the walls/carpet/anything, I'm sure just a runner will look good.

I was thinking the same but I was very glad we went with plain white ones the venue provided. Here's why. Their linens were a really nice, heavy, expensive kind that was fabulous. Anything I would have done/bought online would have cheapened the look.

Also, as Missy said, does the space itself have color? Ours had really nice colors so the centerpieces on white tablecloth were enough.

@ Maci G. you can check this website out they have a sell going on right til tomorrow. But I thought the prices were very reasonable and they have all sorts of colors.

These are the 3 venues we are deciding between (planning out of town so we aren't going to see them in person till August).

I used the white linens that my venue included and I bought table runners and napkins in my wedding colors. I paid ~100 dollars for table runners and napkins for over 100ppl (just for you to have an idea). I got them form efavormart.com

White linens look nice depending on the decoration that your venue already has and the things you will be using for additional decoration (flowers, favors, etc). If you are renting china for example, you can have charger plates, menu cards, glasses, etc that bring up your wedding colors as well.

Im using their white tablecloths, they include color napkins so im using those as well and I added a table runner. Since I wanted to incorporate my other wedding color plus my centerpiece needed it. I think just a runner would be fine as well.

For my wedding, the venue provided the ivory linens and I had runners that were olive and berry.

For Cate's wedding, she also has white linens. She is doing a pink napkin under her centerpiece, pink napkins and pink chair sash.
