Purchasing Wedding Decorations

Chelsea, on June 1, 2019 at 9:29 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 8
I’m beginning to plan my wedding and am overwhelmed at the cost, and even considering just doing a courthouse wedding instead. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to purchase affordable decor/flowers/stationary? Also, tips on cutting costs in the food/alcohol dept?

Hobby lobby has specials every other week. Michael's has coupons and specials in store. You can even go on the dollar tree and check for vases and stuff like that. Amazon has very good and cheap stuff too! That's where I'm going for sure. And I do have a courthouse wedding ceremony and just doing a small reception later same day. Good luck!

If your caterer has an option for buffet style that in my case helped in saving. I bought deco on Amazon etsy hobby lobby and IKEA my dad made my arch and Shutterfly has cheaper stationary options so they can be something you look into or buying stationary at Michaels and printing at home is a good option as well. I bought my flowers whole sale and DIY it all at home and that saved so much money

If I had my way it would have been a very small wedding in a local park with dinner at a local reception. Truly I wouldn’t do the big wedding, the cost for one day is absurd!
if you are looking for good deals goodwill, yard sales, fh marketplace etc are all good options. If you aren’t rigid in your theme and keep decor minimal (no one cares anyways) you should be able to keep cost down.
for alcohol and beverages look for local breweries for kegs on special. Costco and grocery outlet for wine.
Co spider an off meal time reception and do appetizers, cake and punch etc.

Don’t forget to check Facebook marketplace for decorations. Most people sell everything after their event and you can get lots of great deals. Michaels always has good sales as well as a Hobby Lobby

I was fortunate that my friends had leftover wedding decor to give me. But that's where I would say ask around to see if you can borrow things from people. Or if your venue has any decor you could use - that's what I did.
But like everyone else said it could be really affordable if you go to craft stores or dollar stores

DIY is the way to go some times we find ourselves overwhelmed but it's worth it.. a good way to save money on alcohol is to have a signature drink limit your guest to a "specialty drink" named after you and your partner and itll be easier to have what is needed stock and not have unnecessary purchases
