Prom dress as wedding dress?

FutureMarineWifexo, on April 26, 2016 at 10:41 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 42

It's looking more and more like a last minute wedding, since FH is 95% sure he's going active. I've been looking at Sherri Hill, who makes prom dresses, and honestly most of these can pass as wedding gowns. It'll only cost me 300-400 dollars and it's not a long wait period for the dress like wedding gowns are. Thoughts?

I love Sherri Hill. Her dresses are exquisite! I say go far it, it's your day.

As long as you like it, why not? No one has to know it was marketed as a prom dress. It doesnt really matter Smiley smile

I don't think it matters, as long as you feel pretty Smiley smile

Thanks ladies! But the more I look at these the more I'm like eh :/ idk. It obviously wouldn't be a big wedding. Probably just vow exchange sign the papers and go out to eat lol. I'll do the big thing (a vow renewal) in 4 years when he goes reserves again

I'm using a prom dress as my wedding dress. I tried on many bridal gowns but none of them felt like me...so walking around the store I stumble upon the prom section and the perfect dress. I'm in love with it!

Most people won't be able to tell the difference, they are half the price, no wait period and aside from hemming it (short girl problems) there's no alterations needed.

    I say go for it.

It won't be a problem and Sheri Hill makes divine dresses, she was one of my top choices when I was dress shopping. I went with a "non-traditional" dress and it is marketed as a formal gown.

@OP- go for it! I'm sure no one will know, and even if they do, who cares? I'm sure you will look lovely.

All weddings are different....but the main thing you should concentrate on is that you will be married at the end

My dress comes in white! It not Sheri Hill it's another well known designer he makes wedding gowns also. I eneded up putting a corset in it and even with all the detail it was easy to alter. The white one was gorgeous it look like a wedding dress!

Some bridesmaids dresses are also made in white or ivory and some even have trains.

I love the first dress! I looked at bridesmaids dresses for myself initially. There are quite a few that come in white/ ivory and definitely have a wedding dress look. For way less money.
