Prom dress as wedding dress?

It's looking more and more like a last minute wedding, since FH is 95% sure he's going active. I've been looking at Sherri Hill, who makes prom dresses, and honestly most of these can pass as wedding gowns. It'll only cost me 300-400 dollars and it's not a long wait period for the dress like wedding...

It's just a dress! If it's pretty and you like it, go for it! How it's marketed means nothing. Think of it this way: if you saw the prom dresses in a bridal shop, would you think they were bridal gowns or prom dresses? There's your answer :-)

I'm in the same boat , since I don't have time to order one . I hate the thought of having to buy off the rack that every bride has tried it on.

I don't think anyone would know the difference. Most people will just think, "What a pretty white dress." You'll be fine.

OP - I just came here to say YASSS YAS YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I'm looking at her site now and the dresses are beautiful. wear a white one, a hot pink one, a brocade, crop top with greenery bottom, whatever. they're great, all of them!

And if you're really in Cherry Hill you should have no problem finding amazing dresses this time of year (I bought my prom dress in South Jersey 10 years ago and the selection was amazing then).

Also, Jo is going to slay her black dress, I cannot wait to see her BAM and yours.

Yes if you love it, prom dresses work!

If you're worried about time, you could always find a wedding gown off the rack at like a sample sale. Or you could look at bridesmaid dresses that come in white or ivory.

Any dress can be a wedding dress, it doesn't even have to be white. I'd say go for it!

There is some breathtaking prom dresses! Check Jcpennys! They had a stunning blush dress. It didn't come in white but it sure was pretty for any non-traditional brides.

Wedding dresses aren't exclusively "wedding dresses" especially now people are wearing less traditional dresses and I think it's great. Not everyone wants a ballgown let along has the budget for one! I say go for it! Get your "prom" wedding dress!

I say go for it. There are ton of beautiful prom and pageant dresses that could work for a wedding gown. My reception gown is a pageant dress and I love it!
