Potty with spanx question

HRH Mags, on February 22, 2013 at 6:48 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

So....for ladies who wore spanx. How difficult was the potty process? My dress is a fit and flare. I just am having a hard time picturing holding the dress up, rolling the spanx down, etc. Is it as bad as I am picturing? I was looking at getting the ones that go from your thigh to high waist and then just wearing a strapless bar. Would it be better to just go with a longline bra? Which is more comfortable?

Oh Mags....what a nightmare this was! I wore a one piece suit(long line) for Cate's wedding. It had a gusset in it,meaning, there was a slit down there that could be held open so you could tinkle. I have to say, when you drink beers, it is not the easiest thing to do. I was wearing a MOB gown. I can't imagine doing it with a big bridal gown on.

For our wedding, thankfully, I lost about 8 lbs that last two weeks. I didn't have to do the spanx and I just went with a long line bra and control top pantyhose(it was fall in Vermont). It was comfy and worked out well.

I will deal with it when the time comes. It's more important for me to have the smoothing effects of the Spanx. Just will make sure I "potty" before I put it on. The "tinkling" part should be OK through the gusset - I deal with it in dresses all the time at work. I should also mention that my gown is chiffon with a short train - not fluffy or heavy.

It really isn't all that bad tinkling through the gusset. Just make sure you have good aim.

For both my friends when they got married it took 3 of us to get them in the bathroom because their dresses were huge!! They would back in the stall and then hand each of us 2 sides of her dress, one piece of the front and one piece of the back and we would stand over the sides of the stall and hold up 4 points of the dress and that's how it was, haha - they were both so paranoid of getting the dress in the toilet...

Go pee forward in a wedding dress. Yes you sit on the toilet facing the back. Now to get the spanx down. If you tuck it under your bra it is easy to get down, just not too easy to get back under the bra. Yes mine were that tall being the high waist ones. But it was a must.

I didn't think about wearing spanx, but I am worried about the dress being too large to pee. It's a fit and flare and tight through the knee. This might be difficult, I'll definitely have to tree the peeing facing forward thing. I have to pee ALL the time, I hope it's not an ordeal every time.

Thank you Lord I shouldn't have to wear spanks, I am wearing a mermaid dress though, I did try on one mermaid that was so tight at the knees I could hardly walk in it much less know how to get the dress up so I could pee! Oh what we do to be beautiful for our FH's!

Ya know...I think spanx sounds like a royal PITA so....I'm going to see what I can do not to have to deal with that. My dress isnt huge...but its big enough and I have to pee all the time too, lol. I'm like a little kid. If I get excited I gotta go haha.

LOL I asked this last week! I also don't know what to wear underneath. I have a ballgown so I don't really need to wear spanx, but I did want some kind of shorts-type thing underneath so my not-tiny-thighs aren't rubbing all night! Still searching...
