Postpone Wedding

Hi, I am curious how long anyone with an end of July wedding date is waiting to make the decision to postpone?

We were mid-July and made the decision last week to postpone to next summer. We were going to wait until mid-May (right before we were to send invites) but then heard from some of our vendors that the rest of 2020 and 2021 were filling up...and then it turned out our venue didn't have anything until August 2021. We pretty much knew postponing was inevitable anyway, so we figured why wait any longer? We're getting married on Long Island though, where the virus is pretty bad. I could understand couples in other states holding off a bit longer.

We could only get a Thursday night in Oct so we made a difficult decision to wait til next summer, even then, we could only get a Sunday. Good luck to you with everything!

Yeah, it's crazy. I think all the summer brides postponed at the same time. I'm mourning my July date but still happy to get a summer wedding eventually. Good luck to you too! August 2021 sounds like a beautiful time to get married!

In Albany NY 7/17. We have a plan B date in December, but are holding out to see what government decisions are made. My venue only had Thursdays and Sundays left in 2020, so we chose a Thursday. If we went to 2021 we would have lost our original deposit and had to submit another deposit. We did save the dates so if we stick with July then we will do invites in early June. We put something on our wedding site as an FYI in case guests were curious what our plans are as of now.

Hi Elizabeth! Have you asked your venue what backup dates they still have available? That may help influence your decision!

I think that you can wait up until mid or late May to make a final call - that gives you plenty of time to notify all of your guests and for them to change their arrangements.
