Please bring scratch off lottery tickets to the wedding...

KBtoKS, on October 11, 2016 at 9:36 AM Posted in Planning 0 39

I was watching Say Yes to the Dress this past weekend and there was a bride on there who said that she and FH looooove playing the lottery so they asked each of their guests to bring them a lotto scratch off ticket as part of their gift. Who the hell does that??

Thats strange.. if anything they should gift people the lottery tickets as a favor if they want to incorporate it into their wedding..

@Future, that's what I thought! It would be so fun to get a scratch off as a wedding favor!

I am scratching my head on this one.

Hopefully, someone talked her out of that bad idea

I seen that episode. Some of the things that are said and done on this show gives me a laugh. I would have incoporated it by using scratch offs during the cocktail hour, somehow with a photo booth, or like others stated, give them away.. If they only want guest to spend$1-5 on them, that's on them. SMH

If I buy a scratch off for a wedding gift because the couple requested it and they get 10k off my ticket I am never speaking to them again, #sorrynotsorry

This just presents so much awfulness. I agree with PPs, they should give them away as favors, not request them.

That'd be an interesting idea for a favor I guess. Like get everyone a little $1 one for each guest old enough to legally gamble or something. But to ask that as a gift??

That's insane. I've gotten a scratch-off as a favor before, that's fine! FH won $100, I of course, got nothing.

Weird. Tho I second the lottery tickets as a great favor. My friend had a kids birthday party and all the adults got a scratch ticket taped to a full size candy bar as a party favor. Legit best favor idea ever....and I don't even eat chocolate bars.

Hmmmm.......I love them as favors, but as a request? That's weird.

Picture it...you don't think it's such a big deal, so you acquiesce and give them a ticket. A few days later, you learn that the ticket enclosed with your card was worth $300K. Pissed off much?

Pretty rude to assume your guests are bringing gifts at all, and to specifically ask everyone to bring a lottery ticket is even weirder.

Ummm no. Don't tell me what to do for a gift. Make a registry and I'll pick something off of it or don't make a registry and I'll give you cash.

I would probably get on Pinterest and make them a scratch off card myself if they asked me to do that. I mean, if I buy you a scratcher (and here, they go in denominations from $1-$30!) and you win a jackpot, I'm going to be pissed at myself for giving it away.

Giving the tickets as a favor is kind of cool though.

If they win, they better give each guest a portion of that money. just saying.
