I was watching Say Yes to the Dress this past weekend and there was a bride on there who said that she and FH looooove playing the lottery so they asked each of their guests to bring them a lotto scratch off ticket as part of their gift. Who the hell does that??

I also saw this episode... my mouth hit the floor when she said she wanted everyone to bring scratch offs so they could see what they won, crazy!

I took it as that's what they wanted as gifts, $10 boom done. I wish all wedding gifts would be that easy

How crazy!! We considered doing scratch cards as favours until we agreed we would be too jealous if a guest had a big win lol

You don't tell your guests to bring anything except themselves. this makes me want to go buy those fake/gag ones that say you won $10,000.

That's very strange. I'm all for giving people what the want though. I would oblige and be over the moon happy if I bought them a winning ticket.

That is an odd request, if anything bride and groom should have made their own and given them as favors? Tacky people I tell ya

Why don't they just use all the cash people would have brought them to waste on their own lottery tickets?

I went to a bridal shower that had a scratch off basket instead of a wishing well. The invitation said instead of giving small items bring a $1-$5 scratch off ticket. I had mixed emotion about it.

Please contribute to my gambling problem..... that's nice lol... however, I wouldn't mind that!

We did this for my grandmas 80th... it was a surprise bday party we did a lottery theme so everyone brought lottery tickets... she scratched like two per night (I don't have that discipline) she had a crap ton of tickets!! It was awesome!!! But old people are fun so it was okay... weddings... NO

Cute idea for a favor, but to ask as part of your wedding gift, that's just tacky!

Okay I know it's bad to ask for scratch tickets. Don't ask for anything. But if you gifted a scratch ticket to a friend and they won big wouldn't you be happy for them? I certainly wouldn't be upset at all. For the first time ever I agree with Erin wood. Why would you guys be mad if they won? I don't get it

Sure it's weird and ridiculous but if you ask me for a scratch off your getting a $1 scratch off... if you happen to win great. The chances are very slim but I'd be happy for the couple not upset. Now I'd be asking for some cash if you win the jackpot just saying lol.

So it's okay if ticket given to you is winning but it's pissing off if you would gift them a winning ticket? Can't believe in what I've just seen lol

We are getting married in Poland, we paid for guests accommodation because the wedding lasts two days, we pay for six course meal, we pay for alkohol so family/friends I invited don't need to bring even a penny to my party s in return can I not request what I would like to get as a gift? It's very common to buy huge expensive flowers and honestly I would rather my aunts to spend five pounds on scratch card than 50 quid for huge flower bouquet I will bin after a few days.

I don't think there is anything wrong with this. I have seen 2 bridal showers recently do this. Back in the day there used to be wishing well in addition to your gift you would bring a small utensil or something small for the wishing well. What's wrong with bringing $1-$5 scratch off? Its fun for the future bride and groom. And this isn't mandatory if you want to participate do it, if you don't don't bring it.
