Me too! After the venue, I think catering was the 2nd most stressful thing to pick for me.

We booked venue first as well! October 26, 2019 is our wedding date & in East Tennessee, October is a popular month for weddings. Even though we booked our venue over a year in advance, we still ran into several that we checked with having already been booked up for October 2019!

I can imagine! We looked into getting married in Gatlinburg but never could settle on anything there. An October wedding in Tennessee is going to be beautiful!

View Quoted Comment Our venue is actually in Newport, TN! About 40-45 mins from Gatlinburg! 😊 We lucked out & found our beautiful venue right on the outskirts of our hometown! It hadn't been open long, so word hadn't gotten out about it yet so it wasn't booked up. Even though we live in Newport, we didn't even know about it. I just happened to come across it on Google 😊

We booked our venue first. That way we had a set date to go by when booking the others. We visited two locations. The first was very affordable and the log cabin that came with it was gorgeous but we weren't Dana if the event coordinator (she was weird) and the view wasn't great. Parking was an issue and we could only accommodate 100 people. The second venue was a little more expensive but well worth it! The event coordinator is awesome and the grounds are beautiful! Friends of ours got married there a few years ago so I knew how it could potentially look which helped make our decision. 39 more days!

Having a coordinator you jive with is so important! It's one of the reasons we picked our venue. 39 days, wow!

So the only thing I've done so far is get a dress.. I was off last week and working on a home project (spray painting out door furniture black). My mom called and said she was coming up for lunch. We had a great little lunch and had an hour left on our meter so we stopped into this bridal store in my town and I just fell in love with my gown... I don't even have a date or venue yet!!!!

I really am not into the planning at all. I don't want to look venues or haggle with prices.. Just not into the venue part of planning. Heading to the first one today and not looking forward to it at all. I wish I was having more fun like everyone keeps saying to do, but I don't know I'm just not interested. How do you pick? How do you even know if your wasting your time or if something is in your budget? I hate talking on the phone I always feel like a fool. I emailed a golf club that I was looking for a February wedding in New Jersey... They aren't open in the winter duh! Now I feel so embarrassed to call them! Ugh. :-(

I didn't even think about the dress! That's definitely the first thing I shopped for! For venues, I requested pricing online through the venues website or through wedding wire before I even set up any appointments to go look at places. I knew a lot of venues would be out of my budget so I didn't want to tour somewhere I knew I couldn't afford. I really loved using the weddingwire website to find my venue. It was easy to search and quickly send messages to most places.

We both knew we wanted to get married when it was cooler weather. Plus FH wanted to get married in December. All we had to do is pick the venue who had a December date open. We’re getting married at a church near where we both live. Plus they didn’t have any wedding booked in December.

We are booking our first vendor Thursday, and its our venue! I really wanted to get that figured out first, to not only set the date, but also to knock out the biggest thing first.

We researched about 10 different venues, and physically looked at 5. I've got to say, it was crazy to me that so many of my emails and inquiries went unanswered by different venues (big red flags that helped me easily cross them off the list). One would think these places would be more responsive, especially when you are looking to spend a decent chunk of money, but in the end, its their loss!

I absolutely love the venue we chose, and it was the only one that I could actually envision our wedding. The pricing was the most reasonable, the menu options were incredible, and the staff was nothing less than fantastic! I can not wait!!

We picked our venue first, too! It has made planning everything else easier because now it's about if these decisions fit into the vibe of the venue. Plus it's the majority of the budget, so we're planning around that.

Hi, we secured our venue first. We didn't realize venues book so quickly so our wedding date got pushed out to 10-02-2021. The spot (Phipps Conservatory) is most important to us ♡♡

No I haven’t found a venue or vendor yet! I want a venue that I can bring my own my food in and cook it! I would like to be able to use the kitchen of the venue for more than just heating up food! My uncle and cousin are chefs but in California not North Carolina

I picked my photographer first. I had been following several wedding vendors (photographers, florists, venues, wedding planners, ect.) for a few months before I got engaged. I had already compared styles and prices of photographers and knew exactly which photographer I wanted. The photographer's husband also does videography, so I already knew which package I wanted. We are planning for a longer engagement and looking to get married in spring 2021, so I have a feeling most venues will be available. We have narrowed down the venues after looking at websites, so we will start making a venue selection very soon.
