Pittsburgh and Ohio Brides help! How to Set up the Cookie Table

Candice, on July 23, 2019 at 1:04 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 5

So my FH and I are from Detroit but lived the first three years of our relationship in Pittsburgh. He worked in the banquet industry and fell in love with the idea of the cookie table. We plan to have around 600 cookies to set up on one buffet table (smaller tea cookies and larger traditional cookies). How do I know how many trays/plates I need to display them all? Are there supposed to be decorations on this table? Can I see some pictures of how to set this up?

My FH told me that the hotel he worked at would hide milk crates under the table cloth and then stack long dessert trays on top to accommodate all the desserts. I'm not sure about that idea but I've been looking into getting tiered cookie trays and they are super expensive. I know I can DIY some. I also have a couple decorative boxes we could stack the trays on and a raised tea tray we could use. I'm just confused.

You could also consider some jars for a big cookie bar! Rather than laying them out on trays

What would a cookie bar be? I considered jars but that would be even more expensive and I'd have to mix kinds.

Hey Candice! A cookie table sounds delicious!! 😍🍪😍🍪

So there is no right or wrong way for you to set up your cookie table, so have some fun with it! Would you like to add decor to the table? You could keep your options (and your eyes) open and see if there are any decorations that you are interested in including.

Personally, I think a mix-and-match approach to the way you display the cookies could look great! So you could use trays, jars, tiered trays to display different type of cookies. You don't have to worry about everything looking the same!

What are some of the flavors that you will have?

I searched on Pinterest for some example pictures for you -

The raised part in the back is how they do it at my fh's work. I've also seen it where they lay the boxes so you can have some inside like a shelf. I'm just trying to figure out how to accommodate so many treats without having to buy too many of those dessert trays as I keep seeing them for over $20 a piece. We're having at least half a dozen flavors if not far more. Including shortbread, almond, toffee, white chocolate chip, cream sandwich cookies, and raspberry thumbprint. It sounds (and looks) delicious!!

To cut down on costs for these trays, why don't you start looking at thrift stores to find cheaper ones. It would also add to the mix-and-match feel 😃
