Our “plan” is no photographer

i feel like it’s the hugest waste of an incredibly large sum that I have ever heard of

I joined ww and there’s a lot of cant wait for pro bam and here’s my pro bam

Why do you think it’s necessary to have a photographer?

Yeah... I’m not even sure I want to add the cost of expenses Only for a college kid dying to start a portfolio

i do have time so my mind can still potentially change but here’s my line of thinking

i just don’t feel like it’s “necessary” because in my opinion it’s not rocket science to make sure everyone is looking and smiling before you snap the picture; and literally even most idiots could handle standing still while your family gets in and out of shots

maybe it takes common sense to know hey 1st dance: maybe I should take a picture?

I just feel like my family is highly intelligent and any one of them, or any friend, or the wedding party can handle snapping a shot for us

i am going to use tacboard.com

basically I believe as the “moments” happen plenty of people will photograph them and it’s hard for me to believe that there will be no good or perfect shots just because there wasn’t someone there making a boatload to watch a party

Duly noted and this thread is unfortunately not about what I wanted

i was happy with my decision

i do care about making the right decisions though

even if it literally has me in tears right now

i hate this so much and I get it makes no sense

NOTHING in this wedding is what I wanted

it all what everyone else wants so why would pictures have been any different?

When it comes to wine , there are specific wines I like enough to cook with. But other than that, it is wasted on me. Dilute it 50% with crushed ice on a hot day, if it is dry add a little sugar, if it is sweet, add a little unsweetened cranberry juice. You will get something I will happily drink. No happier than I would be if I grabbed a glass of plain cold water, or apple juice, or pineapple juice. Over 80% of hostess gift wine we get rid of when it piles up, since 20% of what we get max, guests drink. 10 bottles come in one night, 2 are drunk, stuck with 8. And still I have to buy what I need the cook. And we buy lots of liquor, and both drink a variety of favorites. But everyone says, wine is the perfect hostess gift. My hubby was raised in a big Italian family. He does not like wine, period, to drink. More bottles come in. . People do not listen when you say, for you, a pro photographer is a waste of money. But you know it is, so do not get one. Pick a gifted amateur or student to take certain shots you want to record everyone in family and friend groups. Collect people's photo files. If what you value is the expressions on people's faces, fashion details of their clothes, their bodily positions when they dance, which record the moments as they actually looked to the people there, the way you remember them >>> then you are right. You are not making a movie of a scripted vision, all composition, balanced light, exactly as photographer wants pics to be. You are not looking at pics as photoessays of perfect details. You want dynamic, the good with the bad, not edited work. Not carefully chosen shots, with half never shown to you because they do not meet the photographer's idea of best work. You want the friends laughing so hard at each others jokes that their drinks run down their ties. You want sweet pics of a grandmother and grandchild, holding each other as they go to sleep. You want the raw material of cinema verité , real life. Afterward, go through and select some shots for framing, make a copy of the file, and bring that few to a photographer for edit and print. To clean up just those few pics. I know my palette does not appreciate the taste of wine. Hubby knows, dead squirrel must taste better. It is stupid for people to be so convinced they can educate our palettes to somehow love it. People who value photo essays of perfectly , artistically capture shots by a trained eye, can talk to you till they are blue. But if that is not what you want. If you want, here, there, and everywhere, moments captured that show people's interactions and personalities, get them done by family and friends who know the people involved. Spend most on collecting and printing those. Not in hiring an artistic eye you do not want as a filter.

    This thread...I just can’t even...

But thank you for trying to be the voice of reason. I didn’t have the energy nor the patience to type out what you so eloquently wrote, especially when I knew I would be wasting my breath.

This, and a few of your other recent posts, are concerning. It doesn't really make sense that "NOTHING in this wedding is what" you want. If you're not happy, then I think you need to sit down with future husband and talk about that. Certainly none of us in an online community can "force" you to do something you don't want to. If you don't want to hire a professional photographer, then for goodness sake, DON'T hire one. Honestly, based on your posts in this thread, there seems to be more going on than just deciding whether to hire a photographer or not. Good luck to you; planning a wedding shouldn't make you cry....

I definitely don’t want any photos but was willing to allow people to take pictures but definitely am not having that option anymore

I will tolerate a photographer for an hour but absolutely no pictures after before that hour

i am sorry for my feelings regarding the issue

So sorry to hear this! I’ve only been a WW member for about 3 months, but I feel like I’ve gotten to “know” many of you.

Your situation is just one one example of why photos are so important and why they can mean so much!
