40 weddings is a decent amount. But more importantly, do you like their portfolio? Their style of editing? The way they work with light? Do they have a 2nd shooter? (not necessary but nice to have) Do they do more posed photos or are they more photojournalistic?

Just some things to consider.

I’d check out their portfolio and reviews. As a plus, they may be a little less pricey if that matters.

Be sure you ask to see "full galleries" of weddings similar to yours in terms of venue-type, time of year, location, etc. A "full gallery" should include every edited photo they took at a wedding, which should give you a really good idea of what you could expect to receive from them. Do NOT decide on what they post to their online "portfolio," which are the photos they personally selected from all the weddings they've done, to represent their work. Daughter's photographer was amazing, and he's shot over 400 weddings.
