Paying for Bridal Suite

Brianna, on February 24, 2017 at 8:38 AM Posted in Planning 0 50

I absolutely love my venue. I'm just looking for opinions (and to vent). So it's costing $4500 to book plus $650 to have the ceremony on site. In addition they want to charge $350 to use the Bridal suite. They only have one event per day so I feel like the empty room shouldn't cost more? Is anyone else paying for their Bridal suite? Shouldn't it be included? I tried to discuss it with the woman and she said if I don't want to pay for it I can have it for 20 minutes prior to the ceremony. It's just frustrating that I'm paying ~30k for this whole thing and she isn't willing to work with me at all. Is it worth bringing up again?

Ewww. My venue doesn't have one event per day, and they are including it. Try negotiating, and bring up the point you just made.

If it's policy and written down, there isn't too much that can be done. Did you get a written copy of the venue's policy? Have you already booked?

    The pricing is outragous though

That's pretty weird; it's something that AT THE MOST might cost them a couple of hours of cleaning, and they could absolutely throw it in.

I'd absolutely bring it up again.

That seems like a pretty big amount to charge for a small room. I could see maybe $100 for the rental and that including clean up but $350 is a bit ridiculous.

That's ridiculous. Does catering come packaged with the bridal suite or some such?

It sounds pretty weird that they aren't including it.

I'm paying $250 for an additional hour. My venue includes two hours already but because we are doing pics before the ceremony off site, I wanted the hour we wouldn't be there to be added on before it. Your charge of $350 includes how much time? Are there any other extras with it? Our includes a coordinator there with a mini bar, a bottle of champagne, and the chef with have snack/munchies available. The groomsman also get to hang out in the social kitchen on property where they have beer, soda, and 'man-munchies' beforehand.

That seems like a lot. If they only have one event a day they definitely should throw it in. Mine didn't have one at the time (they do now, much improved venue) and wanted to charge me 100 to get ready in an empty meeting room. I was like "absolutely not, it's the weekend, no one is there and it's a thing that should be included anyways.

I would 100% bring it up. My venue is similar, one event per day. We are allowed to go at 10am and have it until midnight. For one price. We don't even have to pay extra for ceremony. Sounds like your venue is nickle and diming you. I would try to negotiate.

I'd definitely bring it up again. I get 2 free nights stay at my venue so that will serve as our getting ready space. And they provide either the library or just an unoccupied hotel room for the groomsmen the day of, all included.

Both my ceremony space and reception space are including a bridal suite in their packages. If they only have 1 event per day that makes no sense

My venue has 4 ceremony/reception sites and each one includes a bridal suite from 9am til the end of the evening so you can get ready, and go back and change if you want to before the reception. I think charging you for a room no one will be using anyway, that's there specifically for that purpose, is ridiculous. Definitely ask if something else like others suggested maybe catering is included with the room that's causing the charge to be so much.

That's really weird. Mine includes it. Our venue does one event a day too but you get run of the whole place for the entire day. That sounds like the one venue I was looking at. They wanted 2400 which yes is cheaper, but you still had to pay if you wanted to have your ceremony there (extra grand) and NO ONE could use the bathroom until AFTER the ceremony. It was specifically in the contract. And you had 20 minutes to get out or they charged $250 per 30 minutes until you left.

We actually ruled out a venue because they were going to charge for the bridal suite! That's ridiculous, IMHO. I would definitely continue to try to negotiate.

Agree with PP, that's crappy. One Venue we looked at had a huge bridal suite but for the whole venue being $4500, I would think that they would include it. No it was an additional $600 for the whole day, that put us over budget so we eliminated it.

I ultimately got a venue that included the bridal suite, so def try to keep negotiating!

To me this is not unheard of, I saw it at a couple of the venues I toured. We get our venue for 12 hours the day of, but I'm paying $250 extra for one more hour. If it's something they told you about in the beginning before you signed a contract, I don't know if they are going to do anything about it - but it's worth a try.

As PP have said, that makes no sense. My bridal suite is included and there is no way the one you are looking at should cost, especially not $350!
