Over or Under: Average Wedding Budget?

Maggie, on March 12, 2019 at 11:05 AM

Weddings cost a serious chunk of change, but couples still tend to underestimate how much they’ll spend on their wedding. Will you be over or under the average budget of $29,200? (Not including your engagement ring or honeymoon!) Is that more or less than you thought you’d spend on your wedding?...

Def under because I refused to let my husband add more people when we got declines.

Under!!!!!! We set our firm budget of 10k after researching vendors and venues. So far we are even falling under our own budget which I am loving!! Hoping to have some wiggle room for extras or emergencies at the end of everything. ~Honeymoon Not included.

Under, thankfully! But still more than I was hoping for. My rough estimate prior to researching was $6,500, now realistically I'll be spending around $12,000.

    Way under!
We are expecting around 5,000-6,000 dollars for ceremony and reception. That INCLUDES my dress engagement ring, and our wedding bands.

What's your wedding situation, Debra? Are you having a destination wedding and then an at home reception?

I am hoping to be under (but not by much). We were given a total of 47k from our parents but neither of us feel its appropriate to spend it all. Right now, with all of the big things out of the way, with the exception of the rehearsal dinner and shuttle service to and from the hotel, we are at 25k.

We also kind of have 2 budgets running, the actual, and the one we will ultimately show the parents. With the exception of the big things (venue, dress, photographer, DJ etc. which they know the actual totals) we are actually splitting the cost and covering some of it ourselves. We have to keep 2 budgets though because I know my mom would loose her mind if she found out. When I was in high school I started paying for my own gas even though my parents had offered to cover it for the time being, when the found out my mom was genuinely hurt by my actions and I got a good long talking to... not going there again.

Our best friend owes a bar which she donated and our band are friends and they have donated there time. Many friends are cooking so all we really have to worry about is making sure of decorations, cake, photography Smiley smile

Our total budget is 8K with a goal of coming in at 6K or under so that puts us well below average. So far everything is on track but we still have 4 months to go.
