Older flower girl?

Arzel, on December 12, 2012 at 11:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 24

Anyone have an older flower girl? Like an adult or one in her teens? Would it be strange for me to have one?

I was 9 and was a flower girl and I felt like I was too old,

is there a reason why the person can be a BM?

I dont think it would be strange, esp if there arent any close relatives with girls of age to be a flower girl....

Definitely a bit old. Maybe have them carry a different kind of flower, or if you don't have a ring bearer make them the keeper of the rings? Pomador? I don't think I would want to stand up if I were older than 12 and a flower girl.

We aren't having a ring bearer. I think it would be a little odd but that is just my opinion. maybe you can have her wear a different color dress if you don't want to make her an offical BM's she can be one but a different one of some sort maybe?

I am hoping to have my two little cousins as flower girls, even though one of them will be 11 years old by then. But I think they'll enjoy it anyway and I really can't imagine anyone else I'd want as my flower girls. Smiley smile

As a teen and especially an adult I personally would be uncomfortable being a "flower girl".

I was a flower girl at 2 and 10. I think any older than 12 needs to be a BM. My youngest BM is 14.

I'm not having a FG... it's nothing bad... I don't know any children old enough or young enough to do it that I would want to ask or will have their parents at the wedding.

That's strange! People will never notice/question you not having a flower girl, but they WILL notice/think it's weird if a grown woman is your "flower girl."

p.s. I would laugh at someone if they asked me to be a flower girl when I was in my "teens" or as an adult. I'd think it was a joke.

I am not having a flower girl or ring bearer because I don't know any little girls. I don't think there is anything wrong without having a flower girl, and the whole reason people have them these days is because it's "cute" I would not want to be a flower girl as a teen or adult.

I'm with HalloweenBride. I don't think my brother and SIL had a FG or a RB, but I will. FH's nephew is our RB and my friends's daughter is our FG. I think Spencer will be 6 and Jennie 4 (Gah... they can't already be that old!) so they're still in the "AWE!!" stage. After about 10 or 12, I'd say Jr Bridesmaid or Usher

I officiated a first wedding for a bride who was 50ish. She had always promised her niece that she could be FG if aunty ever got married. It took a while, so the FG was a grown woman (30ish), who grinned from ear-to-ear all the way down the aisle. It was a small wedding -- family & close friends -- and everyone knew of the promise!

My flower girls will be 4 and 8, and our ring bearer will be 9 at our wedding. My photog suggested making the older a jr BM and I was a little offended. She is my niece and goddaughter, and she will be whatever I decide! I was a FG when I was 10, but like the other ladies are saying 12 or older is probably too old.

I have 7 flower girls ages 2-11...the 11 year old will actually probably be more of a "train bearer." These sweet girls are ALL my cousins, and I couldn't leave anyone out! I was the flower girl in the 11 year old's parent's wedding long ago, and I just had to continue the tradition! She seems super excited...just depends on the people involved, the wedding, everything.
