Officiants!! How much did you pay?

Lindsala, on May 21, 2012 at 2:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 48

I am looking into officiants and I have no clue what reasonable pricing is. We are having a non-religious and short/sweet ceremony (30 mins max) so far the range is $150-600.

I think the average is around $200-$250.. I'm battling mine right now because he is charging me $525 when his website clearly states that he only charges $175 for the wedding and $30 for the rehearsal. Needless to say, I am NOT happy!

$200 even - I negotiated it down from $375 since I agreed to pay cash and 100% now.

Ours ranges from 200-325. 200 is just for the ceremony, it's 275 if you do a rehearsal and if you have him "run" the rehearsal, he charges an extra 50 which FI and I both think is stupid. He also does music and stuff and charges for that, but our DJ is doing it so we don't need him doing that.

I'm paying $300, not too bad. They're kind of important. lol. Or you could have a friend or family member do it for free... they just need to get certified and can do it online, it's easy and cheap too

Ours is free as long as we drive to him and $50 if he is to drive to where the wedding is at. We are getting married on June 16 and we are driving to him so that one is free. We are having our wedding on August 18 for the family and that is going to cost us $50 for his gas money to drive to venue.

It's costing us $175... that was the cheapest I could find in our area.

Wow, we got ours absolutely free. It was hubby's Dad. I had no idea these things could be so expensive.

$300, we are doing a pagan ceremony so we chose a Priestess (ordained) from a group we socialize with. That's for the rehearsal & ceremony, but she's also been giving me ideas & a support system, so the price isn't too bad for us.

Ours was $350, but that included the officiant, ceremony music, 20 chairs, an arbor, a table for the sand ceremony and other ceremony decorations, as well as a fee to drive about 150 miles out of town to our semi-DW.

They also helped us customize our ceremony ording, and answered as many questions as we had prior to the ceremony. this also included filing of the license, but I think they all include that.

Mine came in a package so it's hard to say how much she would be alone.

Our Photographer, music, and officiant, and decorations were all tied together.

Our officiant ended up being a friend of DH's parents who was already invited to the wedding. We were having trouble finding/choosing someone so his parents were just like "Well Gary is a Reverend, we could always just ask him to do it since he'll be attending anyway." They asked, and he agreed. My MIL ended up paying him for us but I don't know exactly how much it was. I want to say 300 dollars though.

According to CostOfWedding.com, the Fort Lauderdale area runs over $200 for officiant. Seems low to me -- I would expect it to be at least $250. Plus more for rehearsal and maybe more for travel time. Totally customized ceremony -- add a bit more.

Have you done a vendor search here on WW?
