Not Postponed yet.. but maybe?? Help with wording

Emly, on April 3, 2020 at 1:24 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3

I have created a tab on our Website but i need help with wording: we plan on getting married on June 6th but are monitoring the current situation and will make a final decision on April 30th weather or not we are going to continue with our original plan. We still plan on having a small ceremony with only immediate family on the 6th and will have a big reception later on a date yet to be determined.

Someone help me put this in a way that sounds more fluid Smiley xd

I wouldn’t mention anything about postponing until you actually decide. Your guests shouldn’t feel like they have to keep checking back on your website to see if the wedding is on or not. If you don’t postpone, no need to say anything. If you do, send out change of date announcements.

I think the 2nd half of that makes it sound like you've already decided to have just a small ceremony. I wouldn't give those details. Also, it's "whether" not "weather".

We added a banner to our website that says: In light of the current situation surrounding covid-19, we have decided to continue with our wedding as planned. If the situation does not improve, we may need to make the difficult decision to postpone. We will make a final decision with our venue in June and will notify you of any changes to the current plan. Rest assured, we always have your best interests in mind when making these decisions. With love, Bride & Groom"

    Hi there,

This is definitely a crazy stressful and uncertain time for everyone! It seems like a lot of June brides are waiting a few more weeks before making postponement decisions, but everyone's situation is different and it never hurts to be proactive about plan b!

You also aren't alone right now! ❤️

There are a ton of June brides also talking about their Covid19 concerns in these discussions:

    June 2020 brides: freaking out?

June and July Brides do not stress Covid-19!!!

Also, keeping a positive attitude (through a funny announcement) can only help during this unprecedented situation.

Here are a couple of discussions with postponement examples:

    - Coronavirus Postpone Announcements

    - Website Wording for Postponed Weddings due to COVID-19

You'll also find more information (less funny) here: How to Word Your Wedding Postponement Announcement. There's also a glass half-full perspective piece: “My Wedding Was Postponed Due to Covid-19, but Now I Get a ‘Do-Over’” (with a link to a video at the bottom).

I'm wishing you the best of luck! nLxcI1gBilPA_DYsaorCTBp6X1DzLckXmXiZsyyg
