Non-traditional Brides

There are some awesome non traditional weddings on this thread! We’re just skipping out on a few traditional things. No flower girl, no garter or bouquet toss, no cake or cake cutting, having brunch, no dj but maybe an acoustic guitarist. If it was up to me I wouldn’t want my dad “giving me away” but it’s improtant to him to walk me down the aisle.

View Quoted Comment Totally understandable. We would have loved to elope and have a big honeymoon but our families wouldn’t have been too pleased. I know it’s our day, but we don’t want to completely cut them out of it. I’m not a huge fan of the garter either.

I guess the fact that I don’t have a wedding party and I just have seats of honor

We have a few unique things about the wedding. Our menu for starters, we'll be having tacos and sliders and such. no sit down dinner or anything formal. We wanted the wedding to have more of a backyard-family reunion type of vibe. So we're having backyard games all over. It'll also be less formal, I'll be wearing cute gladiator sandles and a non traditional dress since the ceremony takes place on grass. Also having a poloroid camera photo spot,They're also leaving room for me to do a lot DIY, such as the arch which not many venues allow you to do. It's at a home backyard venue which I'm really happy about. Since day one of planning, I've pushed for a more backyard wedding, after searching for hours and hours, countless google searches, I finally found a more intimate venue that gives more of a home-family feeling.

Mom is walking me, first look, sharing our first dance, my home church pastor is marrying us, no formal dances. There is going to be an interesting mix of people attending, my small family, church family, college friends, college ministry friends and my fiance's big black family. Lol it should be fun! Sister is doing my makeup, MOH is doing my hair/nails, friends mom is making the cake,
