We had a Disney Pirates of the Caribbean destination wedding in a wine cave in Napa. We even dressed as pirates during cocktail hour. ☠️

Then we had a local reception with a 50’s/60’s theme. Guests dressed up and we had a big band + Frank Sinatra impersonator. 🎤

I’m not wearing a wedding dress but a evening gown instead with boots.
He is wearing his full black tartan kilt.

My veil is purple to match my purple converse! I am so excited. FH is wearing a kilt that is made out of the most gorgeous purple tartan, and all the guys have bowties from the same tartan. Smiley smile And I have a matching shawl, again from the same tartan. FH is wearing vans with his kilt.
Also I have two "bridesmen" in our wedding party. One is my 6 year old son. Lol. He wanted to be on mommy's side.
No real flowers; bouquets and boutonnieres are made from Harry Potter pages.
I'm sure I have more offbeat things, but these are my favorite. Smiley smile

We’re doing a gothic woodland formal wedding in the woods with a camp out. I’m wearing black. We’re having karaoke and a live heavy metal band. We’re serving stuffed gourmet burgers, a baked potato bar and cheesecake. Not a stitch of white to be found anywhere at our wedding lol. My son is giving me away... I could go on, but you get the gist!

    We're doing a skit with a swordfight.

Our parties aren't going to be divided by gender.

Hoping to have a handfasting at some point.

So, we're going to give everyone whiplash, because we're starting with a Catholic ceremony.

(All of these weddings look like so much fun!)

    NO white allowed!!!!!!

When talking to my wedding planner...........I told her my overall vision was...... Aurora meets Maleficent

I love all the luxuriousness and drama that dark colors and italian gothic, game of thrones...and vintage-art nouveau "boards" sometimes present.......

Ill be using rustic in not a southern or country sense....but more so bold wooden pieces and accents with greenery and moss to really pop my interwoven mixed metallics, velvet and fur accents......with bold jewel-tones and dark shine.....not the pinks and white and ivory and rosey traditional angle......... nothing is wrong with that...its just not me....

in fact there is NO WHITE allowed in my decor or florals, linens, or staging....... but there is that soft and sweet romance through glitzy touches of blush and classic china and table settings along with lighting and florals and fruit, crystals and pearls and lace.......

Also there will be gusher fruit snacks at my dessert table........ GUSHERS !

my cousin is my officiant....... (not an ordained reverend or priest.........)

my bridal party consists of my sister, chldhood bestie, and my "bridesman" - my very best friend on earth who is a man and practically my sanity

while my groom does not have groomsmen (long and tragic story)

I love ALL of that. That’s such a clever way to incorporate your son. I love the HP incorporation as well, would love to see how that came out.

We almost did a gothic outdoor wedding. I love all of that. There will be no white at our wedding either. We are doing a dark/gothic Christmas and I’ll be in black for my ceremony and dark red for my reception, with lots of metal during the reception as well. That’s so sick. Cheesecake is incredible as well. So excited for you. That sounds like a blast.

Oh man I love it that so much. The best way for me to describe our theme is Gothic Christmas. No white allowed. Im glad I’m not alone on that. My ceremony gown will be black with a long train, my bridesmaids will be in black with dark red bouquets, and my FH and his groomsmen will be in all black with some red accents in the boutonnières and ties. No white at all.

Thank you! Both our events were DIY on steroids but we both got emotional when we stepped back to see our vision come to life. Best. Day(s). Ever.
