No soft drinks for reception...

Mrs. Turner2B, on March 19, 2010 at 12:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

I just found out the catering package I chose at my venue doesn't include soft drinks. It only includes punch or lemonade and wine for dinner and champagne for the toast. Do you think this is enough or should I spring for the soft drinks?

I think the lemonade/punch should be fine. If it's included in the package, I wouldn't add any extra expenses.

Dont add soft drinks...June is summer so the lemonade punch is good. Save the money.

I agree with everyone else too. If you're worried about not having caffeine ask about having iced tea.

Are you going to have a bar? Just curious, cuz if you are not providing anything other than lemonade and water and a half glass of champagne with the toasts then I would add soft drinks.

Our venue only includes Coffee, Hot Tea, and Water. But we were able to get bottomless punch for only $50. And we could have an "open bar" so to speak for soda at $1.75 per soda and then they could have free refills. We opted for only the punch.

I just found out that I'm in the same boat. We will have lemonade and iced tea plus water but nothing else. I am sneaking alcohol in as favors for FH's friends and they probably would add it to their sodas. Maybe to their lemonade instead?

@Ditmara- do you know how much it would add? My venue charges $4 per person for the lemonade and tea so I would think it would be about that for soda. Seems like a lot.

That does seem like a lot Z! $4 per person? And I'm having 100 guests...$400 for soda sounds like a rip.

I don't know how much my venue asks for it but I will check it out.

    Thanks for your input ladies!

Just be careful Z with the "sneaking" of alcohol. If your venue gets busted you both could be knee deep in doo doo

@Z - Wow! $4 per person. That is a lot. My venue charges $2.50 per person for tea, lemonade, water, ice, and a variety of soft drinks (coffee is included with the meal.) We are still trying to decide whether to go with that package or bringing our own.
