No one coming to the wedding

Private User, on August 4, 2012 at 12:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

Okay I admit, I am a little bridal neurotic...well maybe more than a little, but I digress...I keep having this huge fear that No one will show up to the wedding! Like I'm going through all of this and busting my tail to make our big day special and to show our guests how much we appreciate them and care for them. I just keep getting this nagging feeling that no one will rsvp or won't come.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels like this? Is this normal!?

We have all had this fear. I dreamt it a few weeks ago.

Oh thank God it's normal! haha I've actually considered calling off the whole wedding just to avoid it! FH is like um no! We will do this even if it's just the two of us there.

I felt the same way. We only invited 50 people and I was worried that we would have like 15 people, lol, because we were having it at 6 o'clock on a friday. A couple of days before the wedding, I had a change of heart and decided that I didn't care who did or didn't come, as long as hubby and I, my sisters, mom, and our officiant was there. And guess what, nearly everyone showed up.

I had this fear for SO long, but in the end, only a hand-full of people declined. Out of about 140 invites, we're getting 120 yes's. :-)

It's normal. We sent out 205 invitations only 165 RSVP'd. Day of we were only expecting 127 due to cancellations and all...we ended up with 158--->you'll feel the love!

This thought has definitely crossed my mind. Our wedding is on a Thursday (due to being able to save a TON of money) and all of our family said they would still make the drive and come celebrate with us. But I still worry about them changing their minds when 2014 actually gets here. I think everyone worries about this.

We invited 62ish people. We will have 13 guests.

I totally understand that fear because it because a reality to me.

I was really really sad and hurt at first.

BUT then I realized how much I would save from them not being there.

So worst case scenario even if for some reason they don't show up... you would have more money for the honeymoon.

Keep in mind ours is a Destination Wedding which makes things A LOT different. People can't afford to travel or take a week off work.

Now a normal wedding... this doesn't really happen too. I wouldn't worry Smiley smile Breathe.

In reality if you and your FH are there celebrating your love for one another... nothing else matters!!!!

You're not the only one at all. We had a Friday wedding at 4:30. I was not expecting that very many people would come to the service despite my sending out STD's almost a year in advance. When I saw how many cars there were in the parking lot, I cried. I also choked up to see our little church completely filled up--honestly we have about 20 people there AT MOST on Sundays--but our people filled every last seat. They will come.

I think it's normal. Every bride I know has gone through this.

They will show up in the end though.

A friend of mine is getting married today. She was freaking out because no one had RSVP'd (she forgot to put the info on her invitation).

She went from thinking she was going to have around 40 guests, to having 150 !!!

Speaking of, I gotta run... need to leave the house in 40 minutes to get there on time!

I have felt the same way before too, but everybody loves a good party, so it is likely not to happen! Smiley smile

I get the opposite fear - that everyone will show and want to bring a date and I won't have enough space to fit them in. Maybe I'll get the no one shows up nightmares closer to the date.

I went back and forth between the fear of no one coming and the fear of having too many people. If I wasn't freaking out about one, I was freaking out about the other! As it stands, I am at the point of tracking down the remaining people who neglected to RSVP. And by my estimate- a PERFECT number of guests!

I am having the opposite fear. We have estimated my out of town family members won't make it and I fear all of them will show up. I may be a selfish bride, but I'd like to save more money for our Honeymoon....lol.

Everyone has this feeling or the opposite, that too many will come. It's kind of the dream that you lost your roster and it is the first day of school....anxiety dream. Everything will be just fine, and if something should go wrong, trust me, you won't notice until you look at the pics.
