No Invite, No Entrance?

We insisted that if a guest did not receive a plus one if was not personal but they could not bring an additional guest and any uninvited guest would not be allowed entrance. I know it sounds harsh but the reality is wedding crashers exist and venues will charge you accordingly. Is your wedding by invitation only? Do you mind having uninvited guests?

That's why we picked a venue that only allowed 50. We originally only had 36. Only family. On my side alone, I have a total of 7 brothers and sisters. With my parents, siblings, their partners, and their kids, its 18. He only has his parents and 1 brother. I told him it's only fair for him to invite 18. In the end, we decided to just invite 10 more. Their all people we have talked to and they completely understand. I think with bigger weddings that can happen. With small like mine, its easier to control...well I hope lol.

It's a pretty awesome space. We have three rather large rooms and to be honest only have use for like 2. Not sure what to do with the third a friend suggested a pumpkin carving contest and a play room for the kids with their own desserts and snacks and drinks easily accessible. We might do that my FH really likes the pumpkin carving idea. We weren't expecting many kids at first but we might have about 8-12 under the age of 12.

Oh, I see. In that case, smaller is better.

Lol it's amazing how much I loved the movie when it first came out but now, it gives me heart palpitations thinking about it happening to me! My fiance and I are paying for everything ourselves with a limited budget so no room for wedding crashers.

I'm probably in the minority here, but it doesn't bother me one bit if someone wants to bring a date. Most people we are inviting we know exactly who is in that family and who's coming. I really don't know if some of my cousins are dating someone. I would feel really bad if I only invited one half of a couple. We chose to just let people account for themselves on our RSVP's. It's probably gonna be an even shakeout anyway. Some people you think are definitely gonna be there, then RSVP "no", so if my cousin wants to bring his date or girlfriend or fiance, whatever. They can have that plate of food. BUT, I do understand that some of you brides are stuck with like $75.00/head for your weddings. Our's is coming in a little cheaper at around $30.00. Aside from extra's on the RSVP's, we're only gonna have like 5 extra plates of food "just incase". It's a seated meal.

I'm glad you have the flexibility to have additional guests.

My fh and I are getting married outdoors, and the venue requires us to rent by the chair. So we're going strictly by whoever rsvp's. No rsvp, no chair and likely not enough food either. Strict budget means you have to do what is best for you. Remember this is to honor and celebrate your marriage, so do what you gotta do.

I haven't read all the responses, but i saw on an invitation example that said "If you do not RSVP by (date), please bring a chair and a sandwich."

Obviously not appropriate for a formal wedding, but it could convey an expectation, as well as some cute humor. Smiley smile

To each it's own. My husband and I didn't put that on our invitations but I understand why some couple's might.
