Thanks so much for all your help and advice it's so useful to speak to people that are familiar with new york. I have a romantic image in my head of a nice winters day so hopefully I will get that but if we need to get married indoors ill be happy too! I defo plan to dress as warm as possible under and over my dress and my h2b will do the same. Smiley smile x

As soon as I saw December and from Scotland, I thought "She's going to say she can handle the cold b/c she's from Scotland"-- and yes, you did, b/c you've been here before! I remember your post from February!

Anyway, it usually isn't very icy in December, but we are expecting "above average snowfall" this winter in the North East US, so it very well could be icy in December. The paths in central park do get particularly slippery when they are icy, so probably best to wear flats.

Also, as a heads up, not sure what spot you picked, but the Taxi will only get you so far into the park, and then there will still likely be a bit of walking (cars aren't permitted through most of the park), so may be wise to have something a bit warmer than a shrug just in case-- you can always wear it to walk to the spot, and then take it off for the ceremony itself/pictures.

Aww congrats on your October wedding! So exciting and you will need to let me know how it goes! As it's just the two of us we feel we are happy to take leave a little to chance...sums us up as a couple tbh! We have a permit for ladies pavillion it's so pretty and I thought the shelter might be good! Boots it is tho! Smiley smile what else have you organised? X

That sounds very romantic with just the two of you. I work in the city and would say no to heels. Go with boots. There probably won't be snow or ice on the ground that early in December, but it's possible. Either way it will be very cold.

Haha ano...it's a reaction I get every time I say I am getting married outdoors in NYC in Dec. I appreciate all the advice though as it would be silly to be unprepared Smiley smile

We are from Canada and have 19 people coming with us. We love NYC and none of our friends or family have every been before so this is a great excuse to go. It's not traditional destination wedding for sure but we are a bit different. After our ceremony in the park we are going to take a few photos with everyone and then we hired the New York Trolley to take everyone to Chelsea Pier where we are doing a dinner cruise on the Hudson. It's a 3 hour dinner cruise with a live band. We were able to get an open bar package for all our guests so worked out perfect. We hope it will be memorable and fun for everyone.

December 1st probably won't see that much snow, unless there is a freak storm. It will most likely be cold though. I would wear some cute white boots instead of heels. This sounds like such a romantic idea Smiley smile

It's going to be just FAB! I'd say some sweet white boots, a little fur shrug and the warmth of your friends and family. The Ladies Pavilion is about an easy 5 minute walk from anywhere a taxi can drop you, so you will have a bit of exposure to the elements, but I know it's going to be beautiful!

I'm in NYC. You should have a snow/slush option and a non-snow/slush option, because for early Dec in the city you won't know until a day or two before what the weather is going to be like. Pick a pair of cute (closed toe!) heels you like, and a cute boot option (think gross frozen slush) and then bring them both and decide day of.

Adding: Ladies' Pavilion isn't too far from the edge of the park, but yeah - as others have said you should be prepared for (MINIMUM) 5 minutes of walking.

I love winter weddings! My friend got married on Long Island in February and her photos turned out beautiful! I'm just concerned about your ceremony being outside. Last December we had about 3 feet of snow on the ground at that time. I also live upstate where snow is more likely, but it will be very chilly. If it snows too much, heels won't be a good option.

The outside wintery ceremony is what we are hoping for but our fab officiant (celia) has advised us to arrange a backup option for bad weather which we have done....no concern needed Smiley smile x

I went to Central Park in February for a Surprise Engagement, that winter was brutal, there was snow and ice everywhere, I literally purchased snow boots just for this event, it was that bad and depending on what part of the park you're going to there are stairs and these stairs have black ice! Definitely something to think about. I think you need to pick a more specific location before you decide on shoes.

ETA - just saw your comment, my post is useless lmao
