Weight loss shouldn't be too difficult, but it also shouldn't be too fast. Either kind of loss is going to be extremely difficult to sustain.

You also don't want to lose a lot of weight in the last month, because your last gown fitting should be no fewer than three weeks before the wedding, and you don't want it to be hanging off you in weird ways!

For four months, I would say that you could reasonably lose 15-20 pounds, but probably not much more than that (and it would still be a pretty fast rate of loss, generally speaking). I highly recommend this website: www.sparkpeople.com

It will give you ranges for calories, but also protein, fat, and carbs, so that you're getting all the nutrients you need (cutting out TOO MUCH fat is a big mistake, because it will slow down your metabolism!). You can also tell it how much you're working out; again, if you work out, you need to eat more to keep your metabolism going, and it will tell you how much.

I agree! i use sparkpeople and its awesome!! i would say...drink lots of water...follow the spark people plan and work out hard. diets will work but not for long....it sounds like a generic answer but really its portion size, what you eat and how much you work out...and eat small snacks throughout the day to speed up your metabolism...oh also..i recently stopped drinking everything BUT water (no coffee, no tea.etc.) and lost 7 pounds in one month without even trying.

I lost 35 lbs last year in about 6 months doing Weight Watchers online. I have also heard good things about sparkpeople.com and dailyplate.com. Agree, with Cabell, you need to lose weight in a healthy way. My doctor recommended no more than 2 lbs per week. If you lose weight too fast or do it by using fad diets, you will more than likely gain the weight back. You should also incorporate exercise. I do mostly walking and Wii Fit and other Wii exercise games.

BIG Fan of Weight Watchers!!! I lost 100lbs in 1 year Smiley smile... Take a look at my profile for before and after pictures. Weight Watchers is more of a lifestyle change rather than a diet. I still eat and drink whatever I want but just in moderation Smiley smile

I also recommend Weight Watchers. I've lost 10lbs in the first month - so as long as your weight loss goals are reasonable it shouldn't be too difficult (espcecially with all the pre-wedding eating out that I'm sure will happen)

5 months is plenty of time to lose weight if you are diligent. Smiley smile

Look for low-calorie recipes (try realsimple.com, they have great meals on there)

Also start an exercise routine: 30 day shred with Jillian Michaels is a fan favorite here on WW.

You can also look for a class in your city, or simply walk everyday and do hand weight exercises.

    Low calories and carbs.

Carbs is not your friend if you wanna lose weight. I went on a pasta diet because I literally eat it everyday and I've lost 3 lbs in two weeks from just cutting that out of my diet.

I am an assitant manager at a gym and from experiences with members...i would recommend, joining a gym, hiring a personal trainer and changing the way you eat-start weight watchers. You want to lose the weight the healthy way, no fad diets.

@Kristenlee11 That's amazing!!!! Me and FH recently started WW and he has lost 18 lbs. I lost 9. We are very excited! With Weight Watchers, we eat whatever we want to eat. We are learning to make better food choices. I haven't bought any weight watchers food. I was told they taste pretty good though. I would suggest giving it a try. It won't hurt. Me and FH are doing it online.

Forgot to say, its only been a couple of weeks. We eat breakfast, lunch, 2 snacks and dinner. We aren't starving ourselves or anything. We drink more water and eat more fruits and veggies.

Cambridge Diet. Liquid diet. 420 calories per day. You'll lose 4 lbs. per week. This is not a lifestyle, but if you need to get it off quickly, it's as good as medifast, optifast, all the stuff, but better due to 55 grams of protein and 55 grams of carbs (you just can't get that much protein in that few calories). www.cambridgedietusa.com
