Need some bustle inspiration!

MrsFH, on November 23, 2016 at 3:52 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

I don't really love bustles and am actually toying with the idea of cutting the train off my dress completely but would love to see how everyone bustled their dress, especially mermaid styles with multiple layers of fabric/volume at the bottom. Hopefully I'll be able to head into alterations with a clear idea of what to do!

Here is my bustle in my fit and flare... this was a quick pin by seamstress so I could see what it'd look like.

@brieliz, I like the idea of a lower bustle, it looks really good.

Bailey, I think that looks great! I have a hard time picturing a bustle on a mermaid which is quite fitted at the hips.

Seamstress kinda gathered it to the side in the direction the dress was kinda doing on its own.

I love the lower french bustle. So much prettier than holding it on your wrist all night!

At my last Dress appointment, my seamstress cut my train off right in front of me. It was traumatizing and liberating at the same time. They are so unnecessary!

This is not a picture of my dress but it is very similar. I got a ballroom bustle ... I just don't love the look of any others.

It is basically just tucked under.

Honestly... my train wasn't that long and I ended up not bustling it.

So mine is more of a fit and flare, but I did have multiple layers/tiers at the bottom. I thought my bustle was great, it just made the train disappear, but kept the layers of lace and buttons totally intact.

I'm glad you posted this because I've kind of realized I don't really care for the look of bustles either. Nice to see some different bustling styles!

Thanks guys but I have no idea what it's called haha, I'm sorry, she just held it up and asked if I liked it. It was 4 points though, and it was the little hook kind, no ties. It was super simple, the hooks were just hidden under one of the tiers and the train just lifted up and hooked on to them. Sorry I don't have a better answer!

I believe that is a ballroom bustle? Did the train literally flip up under the dress?

Mine is (I'm pretty sure) a French bustle. We just went over it yesterday. I'm not in love with bustles but I do love trains so I just went with what the seamstress suggested.

Ashley, that bustle is amazing! You can't even tell that the dress has such a long train.

I'm also really liking how yours is done Lorith! I'll definitely be showing these to the seamstress.
