****Need help with FAQ's for Destination Wedding?****

Dianisha, on August 23, 2011 at 12:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

I want to make sure I include everything in my save the date Brochures and Luggage tags. What are some questions you thik guest would ask or you would ask if invited to a destination wedding at an "All Inclusive" resort?

Either info on the weather or a website listed where I can get an idea. I'd also want to know how formal the actual wedding is so I know what to pack! Also what exactly does all inclusive mean in this instance? Do guests make reservations themselves? What day should they plan to arrive, are there any pre wedding events?

You might be including that info already but from knowing pretty much nothing about your wedding those would be my Q's. Smiley smile

I don't know where your wedding is - so these may not apply, but:

    passport required?

currency - US or will they need to exchange?

    predominant language spoken?

    I'm having a DW too.

You should include some info on the destination and some ideas of things to do. Also, you should let them know what is included in the "all inclusive" package. If you havent already, you should provide them with travel details, pricing, how to book etc. I included a fun packing list in mine (just ideas on what they could bring: Advil, pepto bismol, bug spray, sunscreen) and reminders about passports and currency information.

I would also supply a link to Trip Advisor's reviews of the property, and the AI's fact sheet. If your resort has a FB page, I would include that information as well.

    Where are you getting married?

I got a lot of tips from www.StLuciaNow.org's "travel essentials" pages.

    - what airlines fly there

    - options for accommodations, links to TripAdvisor reviews

    - date/time of wedding, other activities

    - directions to/from ceremony, reception, other activity sites

    - local transportation options (bus/train schedules,

    tel. #s for taxis)

    - local highlights, including tourist sites and practical: where to find a bank/ATM, drug store, etc.

    - recommended packing list (not full, just critical things to remember) and expected weather conditions to pack for

    If foreign:

    - need passport/visa?

    - local language

    - required/recommended vaccines

    - mobile phone or SIM card rental to avoid roaming charges

    - currency exchange rate

    - car rental / how to get a local driver's license

Also, as an alternative to STD brochures, you can post this on your wedding website, so you can keep updating it, if need be.

I like your idea of save the date brochures and luggage tags. Did you find these on the internet?

You can include what to pack - I always get the questions "what should I wear??" If you're planning any activities for their stay there (example: if you want an all white reception dinner) make sure to let your guests know what type of outfits to wear. (will they be hiking? should it be dressy? shorts? pants? sweatshirts? etc.)

We were happier than we thought we would with the luggage tags we created on Vistaprint.com.

Here's a list of "travel essentials" you may want to use for ideas:

For a destination wedding I would create a wedding website. The info I would include are:

    Resort info

    Things to do

    Ceremony/reception details

Reservation (list your travel agent so they can call) and a deadline time

    Airport transfers (optional)

Welcome dinner, rehearsal dinner, and any activities

    Music request (optional)

Check list (types of clothes to bring)

I have a wedding website that includes very detailed information (feel free to check it out and let me know if I am missing anything :-), but we are also sending brochures with our save the date luggage tags for the not so computer savvy guest (i.e grandparents, etc.)

I used boarding passes as our save the date. It had the date , the destination, location, and our wedding website. On the website I made up a FAQ list questions regarding the all inculsive resort and travel info. A guest info link that pretty much let everyone know the time of ceremony and that it was going to be along the the beach. What was included at the all inclusive resort, info about passports being required and how much they were. Just take a look at my website. I orderd brochures from the Jamaica tourist board that were free and I got 2 different brochures. The large one I mailed 2 months before the wedding to those that had already booked it had all of the info about currency, banking, weather, transportation, police, customs, that type of info. The other one was a little smaller and had all of the attractions mainly in and tours and I saved that one for the welcome bags. But if you have any questions please don't hesitate, just pm me. Hope this helps.

    Mrs. Williams,

Thanks for the info, your website is amazing as well as the pictures. I think I will add a FAQ's page, please check out my website and let me know what you think, I've done my best making sure I include as much info as possible.

If anyone else want to glance at it, and leave some feedback that would be great. I am trying to make it as easy as possible for my guests.
