Maybe your hair and makeup can be vintage inspired

I was going to say add a very nice belt to your dress, but since you already have some detail in that area, you probably wouldn't want to do that. I would say do some subtle things, you don;t necessarily have to do them to your dress either! I am going the vintage route, too and I am wearing my hair down with just a bit pulled back with a flower in my hair on the left side. I may also wear a blusher/birdcage veil that I bought as well. Haven't decided yet. Also, the jewelry you pick can highly influence the "vintage" look. I will post pictures of the items I am using and tell you where I got everything! Hope this helps!!

Pic #2: Earrings I also bought at Charming Charlie's.... cost: $9.97

I hope some of my pics help you to see how I am pulling in the vintage look. Good luck girl! Smiley smile

Your venue and your dress are beautiful!

From what I can tell I think it will go beautifully together.

Focus on your hair and make up like Lonyah G. suggested

You could try a vintage lace bolero jacket something like this. It wouldn't cover the detail around the waist and would make it more vintage feeling

Thanks girls, i really appreciate all of your inputs especially since i am a little nervous that nothing will tie together for the look I'm going for

so far the jewelry will definitely be pearls i found at JC penny's. i would like to do the bird cage, but my mom wants to make my veil so maybe i can find an inspiration one on Google and ask her to make one similar.

i would like to do my hair like Rachel McAdam.

@mandee i just noticed that the earrings you have match the Manichean and i LOVE your dress, bouquet and birdcage basically everything lol

@jeanette i thought about that and i am definitely going to take a look

by the way do you ladies think these dresses will go well together for my bridal party? my colors are burgundy, red and ivory.

Thanks Leslie!! Are you wanting to do both dresses for your bridesmaids? I personally LOVE the second one best. Smiley smile That hair style would work well for vintage look! Smiley smile

Also, I was thinking of doing pearls for my necklace, however, I have a ton of detail on the front of my dress and I don't want to take away from it so I'm probably just going to go for the bracelet and earrings! Vintage weddings are SO mcuh fun to plan! There's som much out there you can find for inspiration. I would also recommend "Ruffled" (it's a blog). Here's the link: http://ruffledblog.com/

Also, another great resource is Style Me Pretty. Here's the link for that site: http://www.stylemepretty.com/

That venue is gorgeous. Lace bolero, or even lace, fingerless gloves....hair down, marcasite jewelry, and you're good to go. I wouldn't go with a button bouquet (even though I really like that one) because no "vintage" wedding would have that. Think silver bouquet holder.

The hair and makeup need to be really vintage styled to make that dress look vintage, consider finger waves and red cupid lips. I would say add a bolero but I don't think it goes with that dress. A birdcage or mantilla veil would be great, perhaps your mom could make the mantilla. I had a vintage themed wedding, I made my look vintage with a birdcage, tea length dress and gloves. It's really about how you accessorize, and dont be afraid of props- like a parasol or a pocket watch for FH. Good luck, I love vintage weddings!

I think it depends on what kind of vintage look you are going for.

No dress before 1980 would have been strapless so I agree with the bolero jacket/ shrug/ to cover you shoulders.

I am wearing my grandmother's veil from the 40's and it is a full on floor length piece of lace which she held in place with a head band. Actually my dress is reminiscent of the otehr grandmother's dress with the buttons down the back ... what does the back of your dress look like?

Your hair could be done in all kinds of different ways depending on how you define vintage. I agree with Celia- no button bouquet, maybe a muff because it will be winter of next year if you dont' want to carry flowers.

Its all about the accessories- pearls are timeless and classic but they don't really say vintage in and of themselves. Look back at family pictures you might be inspired. I know I was.

A piece of jewelry from your grandmother or other older relative would be nice, it would have meaning and likely reflect the vintage feel, wouldn't have to be an expensive or even large piece, really not even something you'd normally think of as wedding like, both my cousins wore a bracelet that belonged to a great aunt and even though it would likely be that LAST thing someone would have chosen to wear with a wedding dress, it worked beautifully (it was dark stones on a rather large cuff bracelet from the late 1800s), I'm wearing a silver seashell with an obviously old pearl in it on a very simple silver chain (it was my grandmothers, the only thing I have from her, she died when I was 7, it is the only thing I have that was hers. My mom and aunts understandably didn't give me, a 7yr old, something of great monetary value but to me, it is as important as if it were a diamond and even though I could borrow something of hers from my mom or an aunt, I will wear this with a happy heart.

I agree with most of the people on this post, go with vintage looking jewelry and a vintage looking hairpiece or veil The hairstyle you posted is perfect. Btw, your venue is gorgeous!
