It's really a question of how long it will take you to save up for it and plan it. No one else can tell you that.

It’s a matter of preference. What season do you want to get married? How big of a wedding/honeymoon? How much can you save up for it or will you have help? These are things only you know the answer to and only you can make a date decision that would be best for both of you.

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Stef!

There are a couple of things to consider when setting your wedding date!

First, how much time you need to plan. Many couples take at least a year to have a less stressful experience, however, it can be done in a couple of months.

Many couples also take into consideration the season they would like to get married in when setting a date. Is there a particular season you and your FW would like to get married during?

Other things to consider are holidays, venue availability, national and local events, your family and friends availability, and other weddings! Check out this WeddingWire article for more details and help with picking a date - 9 Things to Consider to Set Your Wedding Date.

Agreeing with PP’ers. Your wedding date is about preference and financial capabilities. I always wanted an October wedding and knew I needed around 1 year to plan. My, now wife, proposed November of 2018, so we picked an October 2019 wedding date. Once you get engaged, you and your girlfriend should discuss what type of wedding you want, discuss your budget, then research venues and see what availability they have. These are all things that will go into picking your wedding date.
