It’s nice to have something provided if possible. I’ve been to a reception where that something was local apple cider (it was autumn in New England). I’ve also been to a reception where the hosts thought everyone could just toast with what they had, and it turned out that a lot of people didn’t have anything to toast with when the time came!

Somewhat necessary, though my guy isn't a champagne drinker...he agreed to at least a sip

Something to look forward to then, Laura! What is your guy's choice drink?

We are having an alcohol free reception but we are having a toast with sparkling cider for everyone. I think something like that is important for the celebration

Not necessary. But our venue provides a welcome glass of champagne as well as a champagne toast so we’re doing it (which I am happy about)!

    Unnecessary for us.

We will have toasts, but not champagne. That could get quite expensive with hundreds of guests, especially as not everyone likes champagne or alcohol in general.

We passed around champagne if they wanted to toast with it. If not, they could use whatever they had. It was a nice touch, but not something completely necessary.

This one's easy. We're not serving alcohol at the wedding so toast with your coke, lemonade or juice box. Doesn't matter.

He's a bud light man, and does the occasional shot of Jack Daniels. I told him if he would prefer i'm ok with him doing a shot...he says no, our toasting needs to be special. He's a keeper!

We're providing champagne for a toast. Champagne is my jam!!! I don't care what anyone else drinks though, but I'll be sipping the bubbly. LOL

No just toast with whatever you are drinking. Plus I don't like champagne.

I agree! I think toasts might be one of my favorite parts of a wedding reception, but I can't do champagne. What will you be toasting with, Clara?

Mm, that's sounds good, Steffney! I'm always up for a toast and even more up to it when sparkling cider's involved. Do you know who will be giving toasts at your reception?

My wedding is actually intended to have very limited alcohol because we have a few alcoholics, or recovering alcoholics l, in our families and one in particular is a very nasty drunk who would try to ruin everything. So, while I do want the toast, we are looking into alternatives to alcohol to be used for the toast.

So glad to hear everyone is asking the same thing. After getting quoted almost another 1k to have champagne at my beer/wine only reception, it became an easier decision for me. Plus, my fiancé doesn’t like it!
