Naked Cakes: Overrated or Underrated?

Hmmm....I guess I would have to say overrated? I don't know why but naked cakes weird me out. They remind me of Sphynx cats. Don't ask. I'm definitely not bashing anyone who gets them. Just not for me. I love frosting way too much!

Overrated. I like things more traditional when it comes to the cake.

Not sure. I actually don't like icing on anything, but FH does, so we're having the regular thing.

Overrated. I don't like frosting unless it's chocolate (not wedding cake frosting) and I'm usually accosted for it. Most people love the frosting.

They’re pretty and I hate frosting, but I also think normal cakes are beautiful in their own regard.

Even though I’m not a huge fan of frosting, I have to say it’s overrated.

Underrated. They're pretty. I always eat around frosting anyway. And fondant is a weird taste/ texture. Cake should never be dependent in frosting to be not dry. Haven't decided if that's the route I'll go for my wedding though.

Underrated!!! They are so great for a rustic wedding, and they look gorgeous paired with flowers! PLUS, I am more a fan of the cake than the frosting! I am definitely going to have one for my wedding cake!

I’m indifferent on this. I don’t like nor dislike the idea of it, for our wedding we are doing cupcakes though

We’re doing a semi naked cake because FH and I aren’t fans of icing. We love the actual cake part itself! Plus for the guest who do enjoy icing, we’ll have regular cupcakes to make up for it.

Overrated, simple and elegant look but talk about bakers saving money. There’s nothing to them...

Overrated, I like icing to much and I think it adds more flavor. But I think both look okay.

Baked Alaska is the desert option we're going with at our venue. My sister had a naked wedding cake and neither of us are fans of sugary frostings. Certain flavors and decorations may look better on frosted or fondant covered cakes than a naked cake and vice versa, however, I wouldn't jump on the bandwagon and let trends determine my decisions.

I think underrated, it looks really sweet and simplified. Although our cake will have probably be frosted because my FH loves sweets, I don’t have a big sweet tooth so it wouldn’t matter to me.

Neither - depends on theme and style. I'm an icing girl, so we're not doing the naked cake thing, but it can be pretty and tasty (and not too dry) if done correctly.
