Naked Cakes: Overrated or Underrated?

Extremely overrated. They're always so dry and really not worth it if the cake isn't moist.

I guess it depends on your taste in style and food. To me it is overrated. But we are doing cupcakes that I have heard bad talked as well.

I love the look of these! Initially I wanted one, until I showed FH and my family and they all looked at me like I was crazy but I am not picky, so either way I am happy with! However, I never even thought of the cake being dry because of this, interesting!

Underrated! I love the look and the taste – fondant is gross and most places pile too much buttercream onto the cakes. When the naked cakes are done right I think they're awesome!

Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about this. If done correctly they can be beautiful. I will be having frosting though.

Underrated. I am probably going to be having a half-naked cake, as to make it more moist.

Underrated, I think they can be so pretty. However, I do worry about it drying out. If we are spending money on cake, it's important to us that it tastes good.

Doing away with the cake and going with another trend......DONUTS!!!! WOOT WOOT. Our venue charges 2 dollars a person to cut a cake. So that on top of an already expensive tier cake. We just threw it out and having one little cake for us to cut on top of a mountain of beautiful donuts, with a dessert table.

Underrated!!!

They're so fresh looking, and honestly, who needs all that frosting when you've got a delicious cake layered with tasty filling?

We plan on having one, but not super naked, just kind of. Our wedding is hyper traditional so we're constantly doing the inbetween that and modern.

Fondant is never meant to be eaten. It is purely decoration. It's corn syrup, lard, powdered sugar and a ton of food dye. It should always be removed before slicing.

Overrated. I see them everywhere and I like the look, but I've heard they're dry and many bakeries won't make them. I also fell like you can be a lot more creative with icing and a design.

Underrated! That’s what we are having. Plus it’s only a 6 inch two layer cake anyway. Pretty small. My fiancé isn’t big on sweets so it’ll be perfect.

My fiance and I hate frostings of any kind so they are underrated. As long as you have the right fillings the cake will be moist and delicious without that extra coating of sugar.
