My would be wedding day. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Felicity, on August 10, 2017 at 2:19 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 55

Today would have been my rehearsal dinner and tomorrow would have been my wedding day. All of my friends are trying to get me to go out and all i want to do is stay home and grieve the lost of what I thought my life was going to be. I have spent the last month unplanning my wedding with grace and maturity, but today i just want to cry. I have loved being on thia site and looking at all the beautiful BAMs and laughing at the drama and awesome memes. My question for all of you is what should i do today and tomorrow? Any sappy movie suggestions? A bad romantic book to read? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks guys!

    Hey girl, hang in there.

Maybe invite your friends over for a sleep over. Order Chinese, Eat ice cream in your pjs, watch silly chick flicks. I cant imagine how hard it is, but i'm thinking of you. :o(

See your friends...either out or a movie night - - you might have some laughs or someone to help with the tears

I'm so sorry, listen to yourself and have a day of self care. I think OG Kathryn's suggestion sounds lovely. Maybe go out and pamper yourself a little, but do what feels right or best to you. There are no right answers on how to handle it.

Have a good cry or as many as you want, they are healing.

Take a walk, long, short or in between.

    Come on here lots.

Don't commit to any plans but if the spirit moves you, invite a friend or friends over or out.

Speaking of spirits, they may help but may make you more sad, so balance that best you can.

Get yourself a damnit doll and name it after your ex Smiley smile https://dammitdolls.com

@nonna-love those dolls! What a great idea. I am trying to steer clear of spirits, i might have a glass of wine before bed. I have avoided it most of this month cause i didn't want to get all tipsy and call or text my ex and tell him what an immature, selfish, pansy ass prick he was for putting me through all this.

A pedicure and a Mexican dinner sounds good, followed by movies and wine at home

If you feel like having people around, surrounded yourself with the people who are there for you and have your backs. Eat junk food, watch movies, do nails, pamper yourself. If you feel the need to cry, then do it. I feel it is perfectly acceptable to mourn what could have been. Take the day to cry and begin to heal yourself. I can't imagine the pain you feel. But I believe in time you will find peace and live your life and in the future these dates will become just that again, dates. They don't need to hold power over you.

I'd have your friends over, give them your phone, have a drink or two, and let yourself mourn the weekend.

Don't hold anything back or worry about graceful or mature... just take care of yourself and do whatever makes you feel better. Personally for me that would be my girls, some movies, Firefly vodka and Mexican food. But you do you!

If you do like books... I highly recommend anything by Kristen Ashley (start with Rock Chick). Reading her books helped me believe in love again. You might not need that now, but couldn't help to have some good fantasies.

Binge watch funny stuff. Drink wine. Cry, but also feel grateful that you have a clean slate.

And come here; you know how hilarious we are!

Maybe you and your girlfriends can head out to see a movie. Girls Trip is freaking hilarious, dirty but hilarious! You could drink a bottle or two of wine and enjoy the time with your friends. Tomorrow you should enjoy some pampering with your girls and let yourself feel then there is also the option of another bottle or two of wine. Sorry you are going through this, OP. I hope you have awesome friends to surround and love on you through this time.

@Sara- Love the cake, booze and junk food idea.

Another great point made by the Non-negative Nancy 5/12/18! You have been the epitome of grace, be kind to yourself and let loose a bitsy bit.

@mrswrs- i have loved lurking for the past month. I got attached to some of the weddings and wanted to see the BAMs. I haven't commented because i feel like an outsider now. Sucks to spend so much time, money and effort on a party to have cancel it. My wedding was going to beautiful and i was going to be the hostess with the mostest! Catered, full bar, awesome 3 ft wedding cake with 1980's pillars. An awesome dj where we were all gonna dance all night! My girls were gonna look amazing in their blue strapless dresses and the boys in yellow bow ties and suspenders. My daughter practiced throwing her flower petals for months! My uncle was flying out to marry us. My dress! Oh my dress was to die for and fit like a glove! I was so excited to change my name and be a wife.

I am happy and blessed it was called off before i said i do and ended up getting a divorce because he wasn't ready. But oh it was going to be the talk of the town for awhile.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to cry it out. Myself personally would have a few of my best friends over and do a big fun night in. But do what you feel is best for you. Just hang in there girl. I know now it doesn't seem like there is a light at the end of this tunnel but there is. You will wake up one day and it will just be a footnote.

Treat yourself, let yourself grieve, and spend time rebuilding your heart, whatever that means for you. Don't isolate yourself, it probably won't help.

You're not an outsider--it's like the mafia here, there is no getting out (kidding of course).

Please show us more photos of what you have done to the house and making it more yours Smiley smile

OP, you are not an outsider at all. We are here for you! Have you thought about maybe having some boudoir photos done? They are amazing and such a feel good that every woman should try. They don't have to be for anyone but you! Not even kidding, the girls did my hair/makeup and took pictures of me for almost 3 hours.....I felt like a rockstar afterwards. Just a thought of something fun and SO empowering to do.

Go out!! I had a friend call off her wedding at the rehearsal dinner. On the day of the wedding we took her out even though she was obviously upset. It really helped take her mind off of everything. You can still have the dream wedding and plan for that life. It's just not going to be with the same guy. Thinking of you.
