So I already picked out my wedding dress. I fell in love with and even started crying. I bought it and showed my mom and she hates it. She has been telling me I look fat, like a mushroom, I'm too short, and keeps sending me all these pictures of wedding dresses I should wear. I don't know what to...

So I already picked out my wedding dress. I fell in love with and even started crying. I bought it and showed my mom and she hates it. She has been telling me I look fat, like a mushroom, I'm too short, and keeps sending me all these pictures of wedding dresses I should wear. I don't know what to do. I felt so confident but now I don't. I don't want to look fat and bad on my wedding day..

Does she realize it will be hemmed? The dress isn't going to be that far past your feet in the front once it is altered. You look gorgeous. Please don't get another one to please her.

I think you look great in that dress! the dresses your mom is telling you to get, are they the same style? Or is she trying to get you in a ballgown of something? I personally think that dress is beautiful

Your dress is goegeous! This is why I am not showing anyone my dress because I love it and don't want anyone to ruin that! Don't let your mom ruin your dress! It is beautiful on you (and when I look at that picture you are nowhere near being fat! You look great!)

Your dress is gorgeous and looks great on you! I'm still not understanding where she's seeing this fat on you?

Who cares what the front looks like- the back looks stunning.

And that's what most of anyone sees anyway!!!

And honestly- i have no idea how she could even say you look fat- that's absurd- she's clearly projecting.

You look amazing in that dress and there isn't an ounce of fat on you. This is not only rude of your mom, bbut downright abusive behavior. She sounds toxic. My mother would never try to beat me down like that. Ignore your mom.

Ummmmm that dress is freaking amazing!!!!!!!!!! It is your dress, not your mom's! I understand wanting her to like it, but how much does her opinion really matter if she is rude enough to call you fat?! You do not look fat at alllllllllllll!! It is extremely flattering. I love it!!

You look beautiful and I envy your figure! I read threads like this and it makes me think there are many mothers out there jealous of their daughters. They must not feel that they were as gorgeous on their wedding day. And it's a control issue as well. If it's not their idea then they don't Iike anything.

I would honestly tell her any more negative comments and she can skip your wedding. Seriously.

She is wrong to the 100th degree.

Also.... If you're on the phone and she says something hang up. No discussion just hang up. Same if your with her. Leave. No discussion. I had to train my parents this way as they were negative and hyper critical about everything. It would be longer between each time that they saw me. Eventually they got it. If they wanted to see me they had to zip it.

We have very very similar dresses - so of course I LOVE yours. Your train is more lacy than mine, but I love that neckline and everything. I'm not saying this to make you feel better, you are absolutely thinner than me, probably by like 20-30 pounds. This is how I wish my dress looked on me, but I eat too many french fries. Don't listen to your mom and reconsider your relationship if she is making you feel so terrible about your body. You look amazing.

Thank you ladies! I really appreciate it. I'm definitely keeping my dress and she's just going to have to deal with it! I knew the instant I tried it on that its the one.

You look great in that dress! I have no idea why she would say you look fat or like a mushroom! Is she blind?

    That dress is everything.

She's probably just lashing out because she's stressed or sad that her child is getting married. Do not, I repeat, do not let her talk you out of that dress.

That dress is GORGEOUS on you. Don't let your mother get to you.

It took me until my thirties to realize that my mother tends to push all her insecurities onto me and I will never look good in her eyes. This is why she won't see me in my dress until the day of the wedding when we are surrounded by people who will tell her to STFU.

Listen to your girls and listen to yourself. You are beautiful and are going to be stunning walking down the aisle.
