MUSIC.....what songs did you pick for each element of your wedding!!??

Harleybeachbride, on September 30, 2016 at 6:07 PM Posted in Planning 1 29

Hey ladies...

My next wedding related task.....picking songs for each element of the wedding! uugh

I'm clueless about what to choose to walk down and up the aisle, intro song, cake cutting, mother, father, last and first dance (fiance suggested Aerosmiths Don't Want to Miss a Thing) which I'm down with but struggling to pick anything else!? Uugh

I love 60's and 70's music and fiance listens more to 80's rock which also like. I'm hoping to get the creative juices flowing by reading your song choices for each element of your big days! I'm going to ask for music suggestions on invites to be sure we play music guests wanna hear.

If you can list like this all the better:

Profesional song

Recessional song

Cocktail hour music

Intro song

First dance song

Father/daughter song

Mother / son song

Cake cutting song

Last dance song

All music preferences are welcome....bonus points if classic rock / hairband lovers!!????

Rock on....lol

    Processional: cannon in d

    Recessional: air- Bach

First dance: you are the best thing- Ray lamontagne

    Still deciding on parents dances.

All the other stuff is just whatever the band wants to play at that time.

Processional: Canon in D (Catholic church ceremony-not much to choose from)

Recessional: honestly for the life of me can't remember what I picked. I'm not religious. I just picked randomly.

Cocktail hour music: classical piano music

Intro song: Eye Of The Tiger for bridal party. Rocky theme for us.

First dance song: You Are The Best Thing-Ray LaMontagne (first song we ever danced to)

Father/daughter song: Sara-Fleetwood Mac (song my parents named me after)

Mother / son song: My Wish-Rascal Flats

Cake cutting song: Again, no idea. Didn't care and told the band to choose. I think How Sweet It Is-James Taylor

Last dance song: 1000 Years-Christina Perry (MILs favorite song on earth. We dedicated it to them to thank them for hosting. She cried.)

Processional: The Vow - Jeremy Lubbock

Recessional: Vintage - High Dive Heart

First Dance: still deciding...probably Sinatra because that's who we usually listen to

Father/Daughter: Daddy Dance with Me - Krystal Keith

Longest Married Couple Dance: Soulmate - Josh Turner (We're doing this in place of mother/son to avoid drama between mom and stepmom)

Cake cutting: Undecided but I'm trying to get him to agree to Mario Kart Love Song - Sam Hart

Church music & dinner will be instrumental probably The Piano Guys, Lindsay Stirling, and similar.

This is a really neat topic!! We wanted the music played at our reception to reflect the development of our relationship (.....I don't think anyone will get it but us, they'll think we picked a bunch of weirdo songs we like haha.) We're having a private ceremony sans music but the song we're walking into the reception to us a Jesus & Mary Chain song (song that played in the background when we decided to officially date), our cake cutting song is by My Bloody Valentine (first concert we went together), first dance is by Depeche Mode (our favorite band and first thing that came up when we got to know each other).....the father/daughter dance features my dad's favorite band (Smashing Pumpkins) and his mother / son dance features his mom's favorite (Elton John).....all of our dinner music, too, features songs that were important to our relationship (not....cookie cutter stuff.) So this is me randomly sharing our weird music selection, though I'm sure anything you pick will be lovely. Smiley smile

    Ceremony : orquestra music.

First dance: when God made you.

For the reception we are having just the dinner and some fun games plus photobooth so there will be instrumental music or 60s music playing. I dont know about the cake cutting and we are not having a last damce.

I'd ask your dj honestly. A good one wll love talking music.

You don't need to pick specific cocktail hour songs.

Cake; "Cut the cake" Average White Band

Recessional; even though I've heard it a billion times; Happy

And someone please discover something besides 1000 years. I beg you.

    Processional: Trumpet Voluntary

    Recessional: Ode to Joy

First Dance: Fly Me to the Moon, Frank Sinatra

    Mother/Son: TBD

Cocktail Hour: Not final, but I'm thinking 70's light rock

    Dinner Music: Instrumental jazz

I've never heard of special music for the cake cutting so it will be whatever the DJ is playing at the moment. We are serving it as dessert, so it will happen during the dinner music.

Processional: I Choose You by Andy Grammer

Recessional: possibly 'I Belong to You' by Lenny Kravitz.

Not having a cocktail hour. Wedding isn't long enough and we're doing first look and wedding party pictures before.

We probably won't do an intro either and the other songs aren't necessary since we're doing a cake and punch reception.

We will, however, compile a wedding playlist of soft, melodic songs for background music. I'm not very helpful. Lol

We didn't have a true processional but it was like ride of the valkaries

I walked into inta omri which is an Arabic love song.

Our recessional was more human than human.

I made a fun funky old school play list from like the 20's to the 40's for cocktail hour.

Dinner I swapped over to all instrumental covers, vitamin string quartet, piano guys and all sound tracks.

Which was awesome - star wars, star trek, Jermain Park, Hobbits, lord of the rings and everyone had a blast guessing the music during dinner.

I am one month out from my wedding and I literally just chose all of my music so I applaud your ambition. Pre-ceremony is classical Disney, bridal party entrance is A Thousand Years by Piano Guys, Better Place by Rachel Platten for bridal March. Star Wars theme for entrance to reception. 500 Miles by Jefr Tale for 1st dance and we're still trying to find a cake cutting song. We're not doing any other traditional dances so we didn't need songs for that. Maybe you'll have an aha moment and find the perfect soundtrack!
