Stephanie, on January 3, 2012 at 10:02 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 29

What is an annoying wedding phrase that has been way overused that you can't stand anymore?

I will go first....

I said "yes to the dress"

"The photos are the only thing that lasts after the wedding."

No, the marriage and the happy memories should last as well!

Thank you, Shannon S.! I can't count the number of times I've seen some bride with a $5,000 budget for the whole wedding being told that she should spend at least $2,000 on photos. Apparently, getting pictures that make it look like they had a great wedding outweighs actually having a wedding that was great for the attendees.

"Don't Do justice of the peace"

(Why not its the marriage that will mean more in 50 years then your stupid centerpieces and card box!)

"Its all about the Bride, It's her day"

(Uh no it aint! You forgot one important person in that factor and if it aint about him too then it wouldn't be about you!)

"It's the most important day of your life". I most certainly hope not. Or should I just go die now?

"Do I have to...?" All you have to have are a partner, an officiant, a marriage license, and witnesses--and even some of those may be optional in your state. If you're asking about anything else, of course you don't have to have it. What do you imagine will happen if you leave it out--the wedding police will zoom in and invalidate your marriage?

I cant agree more with "the most important day of your life" comment! although i find that phrase gets throne around to much in general....... I cant count the amount of events people keep telling me things are the most "important"

Agree on the most important day thing. I really hope not. I mean it's important, but it's not like my world will fall apart without it.

"Dieting to fit into my dress" Diet because you need to lose weight and want to be healthier. If you are already a size 2, I will smack you upside the head if you say this phrase. Don't diet just for one day.

MRS. S: You are on point. I can't stand that either.

I've been hearing "You're a little too young for marriage" and "Maybe you should ask him to upgrade your ring...it's tiny".

Oh yeah, cause waiting until your 30 or 40 to marry or a big ring guarentees a happy, long-lasting marriage! Yeah, right!

"Bridezilla." Nothing would make me turn into a bridezilla more than being called a bridezilla. And I was never even a bridezilla! But people would *joke* about it, which also pissed me off. But I couldn't show it, or else they'd really think I was a bridezilla. Gag me.

"Theme." Why are brides so obsessed with giving their color scheme and decor a name? Unless it's actually a theme wedding, 20 years from now are you really going to remember that you kept referring to your decor as Rustic-Casual Elegance or Golden Tequila Sunrise ? I doubt it.

S3, agree 100%!!!! you are going to give up the one song you absolutely HAVE to have at your wedding because it doesn't match with your THEME?

Mine is "tacky", only because it's thrown around waaaaay too much and I feel there are better words to be used to explain that something is not appealing.
