Mismatched Wedding Rings

soon2bMartin, on August 26, 2015 at 10:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 35

Anyone chose to do a mismatch wedding band? Really considering it! The band my ring came with it SO plain! (Didn't buy the band)

Yes, mine are really mismatched and I don't like it. I love my band but I'm very "meh" about my e-ring. The good thing is that the band is what's more important so I can always upgrade the e-ring later.

I don't see a problem with mismatch. As long as you like it, after all, your the one looking at it every day Smiley smile

Mine don't match. It was one of the biggest things I wanted. They are similar but not the same. I felt like anyone that had my e ring gets the same band so I wanted to be different. Here's a pic

My rings are vintage, having belonged to my grand-aunt, purchased in 1942. My engagement ring is a round brilliant solitaire, low-set basket with four double-prongs that create the illusion of a square shape, with two small flanking round brilliants. The band is a pave-set band with 7 small round brilliants. They have different styles, but nestle up against each other, and I'm totally happy with them!

My friend is choosing a diamond band for an engagement ring, and will get a non-matching complimentary band for the wedding. I really like the look she's going for... the photo of what the custom ring and 'rope' style wedding band are also below.

Get what you like, and enjoy them!

ETA: You might also want to consider getting something custom, or finding a jeweler with a wider selection of bands. We went to two local jewelers known for their customer work, and they had a huge selection of simple but interesting bands, while the 'diamond specialist' store had very little, relatively speaking....check BlueNile as well - they have some simple but pretty bands and excellent prices.

I really love some of the mismatched rings. I bought a cheap set to wear to places when I don't feel comfortable taking my diamonds (ie the beach). But! I personally wouldn't get mismatched rings for my actual set. I want them to be timeless instead of completely outdated in two years. Just my two cents.

Mine are extremely mismatched. My e-ring is a single 1-carat diamond and my wedding band is thin with 9 small emeralds. I love them each on their own, but they look weird together. I can't wear my e-ring to work, so I've just been wearing my band.

Mine are technically mismatched because my e-ring didn't have a wedding ring for it... I don't know if that counts though.

@MrsMcD - not sure what you mean about becoming 'outdated', as until the 1950's any precious ring might be an engagement ring, so by default all wedding bands and e-rings were mismatched... just saying...

I love my E-ring, but the matching band is just blah, if you know what I mean. I'm still looking on what to get exactly.

My wedding band(s) are mismatched to my e-ring. I didn't think I would even like these bands, because they are wavy and not geometric like my e-ring, but it turns out I love them!

I love the idea of mismatched rings. I also like mixing colors (rose, yellow, white)

My engagement ring is so pretty on its own that it was very difficult to find matching bands without making it look gaudy. I ended up getting a 2mm comfort band.

My set is also an heirloom. Each woman in my family have made changes to it, but I didn't want to change anything. I just wanted to get a new band to wear every day. The original band I will wear for special occasions and I'll be wearing it the day of the wedding. This is my original set

I don't think any of the wedding bands match my engagement ring. It's a pear shape with 2 baguettes on each side... I could have had something made with baguettes, but I like what I chose much better.

I'm very certain that I will get mismatched ering and wedding ring. We love our wedding ring and there is no ering to match it really. But I hope to grow old and be this lady with ten to twenty mismatched rings on her fingers! Smiley winking so it's not a really big deal for me.

Ps I love the family rings! So jealous, my mom has beautiful rings but nothing compares to yours!

Fh picked out the diamonds and setting individually. My ering doesn't have a matching band. So technically mine will be mismatched.

My e-ring didn't have a marching band. I found a wedding band that is similar not a perfect match. I had considered having something custom made to match the curve of my e-ring, but ultimately decided I wanted something I could wear by itself too. I think if you look around you will be able to find something you really like, that looks good with your e-ring even though it isn't the matching ring.

I'm struggling with a mismatched set too. I'm still on the hunt to find a band that goes well, and FITS well, under my e-ring. Also my e-ring is silver, and I don't know if getting a white gold band would be weird. Ugh the struggle.

I have to get mine custom made because I need shadow bands. I tried my friend's band on to test and I didn't like the feeling of it not fitting together like a puzzle.

PS - @Melissa & @Nikki - I am dyyyyyyyyyying over your wedding bands. So beautiful.

@Alexis - your heirloom set seriously has me drooling. Holy crap!
