mismatched centerpieces

Mary, on May 29, 2012 at 10:20 AM Posted in Style and Décor 1 20

Hello ladies!!

Back into design mode, I have decided i will be having mismatching centerpeices for my day (dont worry they are all candelabra's) some are tall with flowers, whilst the other half are low, with rose petals and tealights around them.

It did start as a budget thing, but now i am growing more and more accustomed to this and really feel it will be an interesting feature of the day.

Any one else mismatching anything in their decor be it colours or styles or anything?

Lol Just make sure to call your centerpieces an "eclectic mix" rather than mismatched. It sounded more cohesive.

We've planned matching sets of different tables as well. Some with tall branches, some with a low bed of flowers, others with tall glass vases with flower balls on top and some with just candles. I think it'll give more detail to the room and make it easier for guests to find their seats again.

We have 4 different decorations for our reception. We have some trees with roots and the decorator is having fall leaves around the base and putting some on the trees. We are having vases with twigs with floating candles on top of them. Then there are other vases with pinecones, leaves, and pheasant feathers in them. Finally on the head table we are having all different size mason jars. They will all be filled with different outdoors fall things except 4 of them that our bouquets will set in.

I have a collection of vintage vases that we are using for centerpieces, and I'm augmenting the collection with mason jars and other vessels. Our flowers are a wildflower mix. So all of our tables will be slightly different from each other, but they should (hopefully) all have the same feel. I don't like identical matching things, so it works out for us!

We also have three different designs for your tables. I was a little worried because I am a simple girl that likes everything even, but everyone has influenced me that it will look much better this way. I have also since fell in love with the idea.

I am mismatching. One thing I've learned as a florist is that to keep the color scheme is good but to vary the arrangements gives the room dimension and depth. I am definitely using different centerpieces of different heights and I will have one common color in all the arrangements, but I will use all the colors in my pallet for the wedding in all the centerpieces, one yellow and orange, one green and orange, one taupe and orange, etc.

Kristina- me too, the rose petals will be the same as the ones the flower girls have, the ones on the cake table and head table, whilst the tall flowers will be similar to my bouquet and pedestal arrangements. they will have the same colour theme!

We did it and it turned out beautifully!

All incorporated the peacock feathers and orchids, but some were more candle inspired than floral.

We received a lot of compliments on them all. I think yours will be amazing.

I attached a copy. Hope it helps.

When I went to order my BMs dresses at Davids, the sizes and colors in my particular style were really limited. I ended up getting truffle brown for two girls, horizon blue for two girls, and navy for MOH... they look good together, but not what I had planned. So that being said, I decided to switch it up on my tables. I will have the same centerpieces, but I have large round place mats on the center that will alternate between the blue and brown.

We are doing two, maybe three different centerpeices. Originally we were going to do all tall vases with the branches, half with orchids and the other half with hydrangea. Then we went to an open house at our venue and FH actually commented on how much he liked a certain centerpeice (he very rarely has opinions) and we may throw that third one in. They were three glas vases with water, orchids, and floating candles. I like the "eclectic" look of different centerpeices, I think it makes people look around the room.

One of my friends did for her wedding. She didn't order enough flowers so it wasn't planned but to be honest it turned out really nice!! She had about 10tables and had 5 different centerpieces.

I am mismatching as well - one tall and one lower. Here are two of my centerpieces. They will be used on alternating tables.

I'm strongly considering mixing my centerpieces too. My colors are navy, platinum, and ivory; so I was thinking of maybe a few tall silver vases with ivory hydrangea, and low vases of hydrangeas surrounded by votive candles for the rest of the tables.

Yay for "mismatching". We have selected 3 different centerpieces for our "outdoor theme" reception.

Our centerpieces weren't all the same either. Half were candles in mason jars, and the other half were bouquets of flowers in milk-bottle vases. Half of the bouquets were a burnt orange color, the other half were burgundy.

I was literally JUST thinking about this! I have lanterns that I am getting from a friend and then I have about 10 mason jars just at the house, and I was thinking of doing something else with picture frames- love the idea of mismatching centerpieces! To me, it sounds like it is just a resourceful idea!
