Mini-wedding location ideas?

Jessica, on October 24, 2012 at 10:07 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 6

Hi! I just got engaged a few days ago and my fiance and I are looking to do a small wedding with just immediate family, probably less than 20 people this summer. We live in Philly but are hoping to do it somewhere within like a 2-3 hour drive.

I've been checking out gardens in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia but everything I've been finding is for much bigger weddings. If anyone has any great smaller venues your advice would be much appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!!

Do a search for "elopement package." A lot of the places advertising for elopements can handle very small weddings, even if they are not actually elopements.

Or you could do a restaurant reception. We had a ceremony for only a dozen people, and just took everyone to the private dining room of a nearby restaurant afterward.

Welcome to the WeddingWire Community @Jessica, and congratulations on your engagement!

Have you checked various wedding sites/directories to get a better idea of what you need in terms of a venue?

I definitely suggest that you start by getting 'recommended' vendors here on WeddingWire! Based on your answers to a few questions (budget, number of guests, location, etc.), the system will automatically populate a list of possibilities that will fit your needs.

    To start:

-Go to 'My Wedding' and click 'My Vendors'

    -Click the 'Recommended Vendors' tab

You can also search directly from our homepage at www.weddingwire.com for 'Venue' vendors in your area.

    Good luck! Smiley smile

Sayen Gardens in Hamilton NJ, Grounds for Sculpture, also in Hamilton, the Nassau Inn in Princeton, Ninety Acres, in Peapack (this is GORGEOUS), the Manor in West Orange has two small private rooms, The Molly Pitcher Inn, in Redbank, Trinity in Keyport (I love this one too) Possibly the Chauncey Conference Center, also in Princeton.

If you end up extending the distance, Virginia Beach, VA is nice! and there are parts of the beach that are kinda secluded

I researched this before we ended up deciding to have a bigger wedding. Leesburg, VA is a charming historic town, and there are at least two venues, Norris House Inn and Weddings on Wirt. I think the book A Practical Wedding has some ideas for small weddings, and there is a web site, Intimate Weddings, that shows people's small weddings at venues all over N. America.

Please don’t forget to change your avatar so that we remember you more easily. (it doesn't have to be a picture of you per-say) It will help us determine spam/trolls vs real bride and you'll get a better response. Many posts with the double rings don’t get opened. Here's how to do that and more :-)
