Micro-wedding - how did you make it special?

Amethyst, on May 17, 2020 at 6:30 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 4

Hi everyone! We are planning on still getting married on may 30th but postponing the actual celebration until a later date. We are thinking of having close family and friends over for a cookout. What are some things you did to make it feel special?

Still making it feel like an actual celebration! Yesterday was our micro wedding. We had 6 people who were there. Still did a boudoir shoot, cake cutting, wearing our outfits, and that gave it the feel of a special day!

We're still doing our cake, first dance and pretty decorations!

Smiley smile We are having a microwedding with just very close family members, 14 people including us (4 of which are under 10). This was decided long before COVID-19 because of the strain it would put on everyone (it would be a destination wedding to everyone except us).

I found a historical hotel that offers an "elopement package" for parties under 20 people. Even better, because we are doing just immediate family we were OK choosing a Tuesday (our anniversary). The hotel gave us 50% off the normal elopement package! We are still doing all the typical ceremony stuff, I found a solo violinist for the music, my little cousins will be our bubble girls. There is a cocktail hour for snacks and drinks out on the hotel veranda. For the reception, we have one of their private board rooms for dinner and cake.

Later this summer we will rent an AirBnB for a weekend to invite friends for a barbecue and hiking/gaming weekend. We're calling it the "We did the thing!" celebration.

    Hi Amethyst,

Congratulations on making a decision! Obviously, many couples have had to adjust their plans as a result of the pandemic. There's a good discussion with some in-depth responses and examples here: Microwedding + sequel wedding due to Covid...
