So here's the run down - our venue includes a 4 course plated dinner. Everything on the menu is gourmet. However our favorite dish on the menu was a white fish that was outstanding. So here's the run down - our venue includes a 4 course plated dinner. Everything on the menu is gourmet. However our favorite dish on the menu was a white fish that was outstanding. They are only letting us pick 1 dish for everyone, or we can do 50/50 with another dish which means that I get steak, you get fish, the person next to you gets steak, the person next to them gets fish, and so on. It's every other seat. It's a dumb setup but I gotta work with it.

and YES they do let me get all the dietary restrictions/vegetarian/allergy orders in beforehand so those people get something special.

**EDIT**

If you're wondering the outcome of this thread. I decided on doing 100% steak option for the entree. It's hard to mess up steak and I think most will be pleased with it. Now do I do the one that soaked in wine or the one with a pasilla chile demi-glace? Smiley laugh

Fish is healthier for you. But don't think your venue is doing right by your guests should have the option

I serve fish hors d’oeuvres at a reception but not at a wedding or other dinner event. I much prefer a choice of vegetarian or chicken or beef. Sorry, but fish smells and that’s not attractive at an event of 50 or more.

Fish isn't weird and some people do enjoy it while others don't. Guests should be allowed options if you are serving more than one thing, not the catering company deciding who gets to eat what. If guests aren't allowed to pick themselves, then just serve one meal like steak which is much more appealing to masses.

For the sauces, is it possible to have them on the side?
