Manicure & Pedicure help/advice

Now Mrs. S., on September 13, 2015 at 1:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

The wedding is 20 days out. I am making an appointment to get a manicure and pedicure 7-8 days before the wedding (bridal pics are the 28th, the week of the wedding). I am a massage therapist, so due to health and professional regulations, I can not have fake or painted nails while working (I am off the week of the wedding) and I have very short nails. I have made myself familiar with the different types of applications (gel, acrylic, etc), but I am still struggling on whether to go with gel tips and shellac on the toes, or what. What would you suggest for a manicure & pedicure application that will still look pristine a week later? Any info will be greatly appreciated, as this will be my first time ever getting a manicure (with fake nails, had a general one (literally) once before) and pedicure. Thanks!

I would go with gel on your hands. It does last and you can remove it easily before returning to work. As far as your pedicure, regular nail polish is fine.

I work in the medical field and did shellac gel French manicure and regular polish French pedicure. I have never heard of a salon doing shellac pedicures because regular polish lasts so long on toes that there's no reason to use shellac

Gel hands down. If you want it to look perfect still days later, it's perfect.

Gel is much more natural looking than acrylic but won't give you any length. Acrylic does last a while, but you would need to go to a nail salon to have it removed properly. they might be able to do a tip on your nail without adding acrylic though, just gel.

I suggest either gel or acrylic for hands. Normal polish is fine for toes unless you will be honeymooning at a beach with a lot of sand. Then you want gel.

My mother gets pink and white acryilc done that last 8 weeks and they look good (not fake). I would deffinatly do some research on nail artist because it really matters who does for how long it last. I have had several gel manicures and one lady i went to chipped with in 3 days and started peeling but the lady I usually go to, it will last for weeks before I take it off. And I would go with regular on toes

I love my gels on my hands; I use regular polish on my toes. My gels last three to four weeks.

Gel and shellac are both great. I get shellac every time I go just beucase it always last longer and it doesn't hurt your nails like acrylics.

There's no way you can do anything on your fingers other than gel. I don't even bother paying for a regular manicure because its chipped by the end of the day no matter what I do.

I'd do gel on your fingers and toes. My toes are typically fine when I do them myself (they'll last for about three weeks), but every single time I've gotten a pedicure, they've chipped. I think the little extra money you'll spend is well worth avoiding that headache.

Gel, all the way. My regular manicures are all chipped in the time it takes me to get from the salon to my house

Personally, I would get regular polish and get a mani-pedi closer to the wedding. I don't care for any of the options you mentioned as I am not comfortable with the chemicals they involve. If it were me I would just do it the day before or the morning of and then you know your nails will look great!

I would get any form of no-chip polish! I am not a fan of fake, plastic nails/tips. My no-chip manicures last 2-3 weeks. At 1 week it will still be great. I also love no-chip pedicures because they last for a month - if not more. Good luck!~
