viki, on January 23, 2009 at 4:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Help! We are getting married in a library and so i have a literary wedding theme going on. The problem is I can't find little books or anything along with the theme for place card holders? any advice?

You could do personalized bookmarks, laminated, for the place cards

    Hi! Congratulations!

Perhaps you could make each of the place cards a little book. Maybe a book of you and your fiances love. You could have a miniture book which was folded with the guests name on one side and blank on the other.

You could have it be muliple pages with information about you and your fiance. Something cute about your childhood, how/when you met, favorite memories, etc... You could set them up with the "binding" upwards, the cover could be the guests name, then have the additional pages inside.

I would be more than happy to try to play with this idea to create a sample for you.

For your save the date cards you should do something which looks like the old DUE DATE paper which is found in books at the library. If you have already sent those out you could do that for the wedding announcements that you send.

Again, I am willing to help with any of these ideas.

    I hope they were helpful

Use the Dewey Decimal system to name/label the seats and tables! I think that would be cute. And the cards could be a play on the index cards you'd typically see at the library. Each table can be a different class...like science, language, technology...etc, and each person can have a unique number.

I agree about the bookmark idea...we have beautiful leather bookmarks with a window for a picture...here's the link to the picture and description...

I would look into where you could purchase thos Due Date Cards they used to put in books http://www.vernonlibrarysupplies.com/cgi-bin/vernlib.cgi/results_prod.html?catcode=S3074&maincatcode=C2017 . Maybe you could have these, with guests names, the dates, and their table number at the reception table. Then, each table could have small photo books or you could purchase vintage-looking hard-cover books from garage sales or second-hand stores as a gift for each guest...you have plenty of time & with the help of some close friends/family, could probably find lots of neat books for very low prices!

    Hello,

Online I have seen very inexpensive silver "book" photo keychains. They can be engraved on 1 or both sides. I purchased 2 for my grandparents anniversary and they were beautiful. When you opened them, they had a place for pictures on both sides. You could put the place card inside and they could double as favors. I put a link below as an example, but I found them much cheaper, i just don't remember exactly where online. Googling "Photo Book Keychain" will bring up tons

I love lauren10's idea with the decimal system! Or -- I don't know if what you're giving out for your favors, but if you're using those little mini-books that they always have near the checkout line at bookstores -- you can make little bookjackets for each one with your guests' names & individual decimal number on it, then have the "books" double as placeholders & favors Smiley smile

If you want books check out the dollar store and do something like mentioned with the library book cards. Those are great ideas.
