My FH is a Basketball coach and thought it would be fun to have it related to that or sports. Other friends of ours have done shooting a mini basketball in a hoop and if you make it they kiss, but I want to try to have something different if we can think of something. TIA!

I really hate the kissing on demand and clinking of glasses. FH grandparents (as sweet as they are) think its soooo funny and cute when they clink on their glasses every 15 seconds to get the newlyweds to kiss and don't stop until they kiss. I'm also trying to figure a way to avoid this at our wedding.

Of course we are going to kiss whenever we choose, but any wedding I have been to have clinking of glasses to get the couple to kiss and other things to make it fun. I just don't like the noise and wanted another fun idea.

I agree, this is so annoying. I went to a wedding where the guests did this every 5 minutes. It might be cute once, but damn it got so obnoxious. Here's hoping my guests don't do this!!!

Clinking glasses to bet the bride and groom to kiss is definitely a thing in my area. It's annoying and guests tend to get incessant with it. Our DJ (and my mom) recommended to turn it into a game.

There will be a die for the guests to roll, if it lands on even then the bride and groom kiss, if it lands on odd the person who rolled the die has to go kiss someone.

I went to a wedding where if you wanted the couple to kiss you had to sing a line from a song with the word "kiss" in it. I was 7 and loved it. Now as an adult, I can look back and imagine it was pretty uncomfortable, especially for Uncle Joe in the corner who thought he was a real life broadway singer and performed 2 verses of a song before he got to the word "kiss". I wouldn't recommend this.

Honestly, people clinked glasses at our wedding ONCE. It was right after our entrance when we got to the head table. It was cute, then it was done. I kissed my husband as many times as I wanted after and no one had to clink a glass for it!

@Kimbo, that's kinda awkward for guests. What if they didn't come with anyone? What do they do then? Kiss a random person?

@APD - Then hopefully they won't roll the dice!!

ETA: My mom saw this at a wedding. Most of the time it was the younger kids rolling the die, and when they'd have to kiss someone, they run and peck their mom/dad on the cheek.

Unreinforced behavior tends to vanish. Don't kiss; they'll stop clinking eventually. (Or just tell them to stop b/c it's tacky and won't work.)

At every wedding I have been to they do the clinking of the glasses. I never realized that it was something NOT everyone did. Next thing you are going to tell me is that no one has ever heard of doing the chicken dance (If you don't know what it is please don't tell me, let me live in my happy sheltered world)! I have seen those kissing bell around too, maybe you could come up with something simple, Like have some flowers on the tables and when someone raises a flower you kiss? you could make it that if 5 or 10 flowers are raised you kiss, make it some sort of game. It was never a "required" thing, it wasn't like the Wedding Police were going to get you if you didn't kiss when they clinked their glasses it was just a fun thing, but the noise does get to you, especially if you have that one or two people that think it's "cute". If not flowers maybe you could do Champagne Glasses or something. Good Luck

I feel like if your guests want you to kiss, they'll clink. Making a spectacle of it and asking them to do something else is a waste of time and kind of ridiculous.

I don't think this needs to be a thing. Everyone is at your wedding, we get it, you love each other. No need to see you kiss every few minutes.

At my brother's wedding, people put money in jars for a local humane society to have them kiss. I know alot of you are probably against it, since it's about money, but it was for a good cause.
