I wanted to do my own vows but my FH isn’t having it, he’s strong silent type LOL. I think once you’re feeling what you’re saying, be it your own vows or the traditional in sickness and in health vows, as long as you mean it and you’re engrossed in your partner when saying it...it’ll be meaningful and full of emotion.

Keep. I think that after you say personal vows. That part of the traditional ones can be said to like seal the deal. 🥰😘😉

It depends but I’m choosing Cancel. “In sickness and in health” is fine but the “honor and obey” part of some traditional vows rub me the wrong way. Either way we’ve written our own vows and we’re doing a handfasting ceremony.

I want to make my own vows and have that special moment where we can make jokes. I think that the traditional ones are nice, but personal touches make the moment so much better.

KEEP! We kicked it old school: "To have and to hold, for richer or for poorer." No regrets. There was something cool about reciting vows that have been around for a hundred or so years.

I'd love to write my own vowels but I'm already so nervous I'm praying I can just repeat the traditional vowels without freezing up or start weeping and sobbing that we finally made it to that day

Cancel, we're writing our own. We're not having traditional readings either.

Keep. The “in sickness and in health” line will get us both emotional as my fiancé overcame leukemia last year.

Same for us. I want to personalize our vows. He said he likes traditional vows but cannot tell me why. In my head, as of now, we will do personalized vows in the traditional manner.

It was my FH that insisted on the modern vows, I was fine with either option, although I am having some anxiety with writing the "perfect vows " haha. We like the ability to make it personal and intimate

Half and half for this tradition, our officiant will bring suggestions we will sit down and go over what and how we should do the vows, lucky for us our "OFFICIANT" is my friend from work who had this on her bucket list

We are writing our own vows though I’m sure it goes without saying we’re here through sickness and health. Don’t wanna say cancel but we aren’t doing them!

Cancel. While I still appreciate them to a point, i think its more meaningful to incorporate those things into your own personal vows.

Keep! We are going to do the traditional vows as well as our own vows. We used to write love letters to each other when we first started dating.
