June Wedding covid plans

Erica, on April 2, 2020 at 4:55 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 3
With June 13th right around the corner and shut downs for COVID increasing I find my stress and anxiety over my wedding amplifying by the day.

I figured I’d reach out here and see what your plans are for a June wedding.
Currently we’re moving forward as if we’ll be aloud to gather in groups by June 13th. My cousin lives in Virginia and their stay at home order lasts until June 10th.
We did reach out to the owner of our venue and she was kind enough to let us reserve another date in August just incase we have to cancel.
We still have venders that we haven’t fully paid yet and my dress is at the tailor, I was supposed to get my first look at the alterations tomorrow but she’s closed because of COVID.
My wedding invitation have already been sent so I made an announcement on my wedding website about the second date.
All I can do is sit at home and try to think happy thoughts 😑

We were supposed to be June 19, but decided to postpone until June 25, 2021. I weighed the different factors (out of town guests, at risk guests, my own autoimmune disease) and determined it wasn’t worth the risk. We are still planning on getting married this summer and having a super small celebration, with the big reception being next summer.

Also, I haven’t had my dress altered, haven’t picked my cake, haven’t even started looking for a hair and make up, and needed so many decorations. If these stay at home orders last there’s no way it could happen!

    Hi Erica,

I know this is a hard time to be planning your wedding. Thank goodness you're ahead of the game with a potential postponement. It must feel good to have a Plan B date. I'm very glad your venue is accommodating your needs.

Like you, some June brides are waiting a little bit longer to make the call, but everyone's situation is different. You also aren't alone right now! There are a ton of June brides talking about their COVID-19 concerns in these discussions:

    - June 2020 brides: freaking out?

    - June and July Brides do not stress Covid-19!!!

There are many resources on our website that may be helpful as you navigate the planning (or postponement) process: Our COVID-19 Weddings Advice Guide. You'll find articles like this one: What to Do About Your Wedding During the Coronavirus Pandemic.

    Hope this helps! Smiley heart
