Don't do that. It honestly sounds terrible imo.

So on WW previously I have kinda felt bad for "my area of the world" where people only give physical presents, never cash, and weddings tended to be cake and punch with appetizers, no alcohol, and not nearly enough seats for everyone (that's my biggest annoyance).

But honestly, this raffle fundraiser idea under the masquerade of a party has GOT to be worse than the rest of the tacky traditions in my area of the world. I would have never thought of making people pay to enter an event, or raffle or any some such nonsense for your wedding/shower. I mean seriously at that point just don't have this jack and jill thing. Just charge people admission to your actual wedding, as if it's a baseball game or a rock concert. At least it is one less painful event that your guests will pay to attend (ie only a wedding, not a wedding and a shower that will be poorly hosted).

(for the record charging for your wedding admission is a TERRIBLE idea so I am not condoning that, but it's no worse than what this shower/jack and jill thing sounds like).
