So I am very disappointed in some threads on here. Jack and Jills are a pretty new concept so I think they are complex to plan but there’s a ton of negativity surrounding them. My bridal party is throwing us a Jack and Jill because I don’t want a stuffy shower and my
fiance wants nothing to do with a sleazy stag. With that being said does anyone have any POSITIVE input here. Send invites out to guests of the wedding with an online purchase then bridal party can sell tickets also? It will be built entirely like a stag with raffles and games, music, good and drinks but a midday Sunday picnic style. I spend more on a single bridal gift than a couples tickets would be. Probably double so no negative comments please. Thanks ahead of time!

Sorry..tacky. if you can afford your wedding, cut costs elsewhere. Don't make your guests pay for it.

This is a tough crowd!! If a Jack and Jill party like you've described is normal in your area then go for it! It sounds like it is common in the New England area but for those of us in the rest of the country it is a strange concept. WW is probably not the best place to ask for advice on regional traditions, especially if they go against traditional etiquette!

As for ticket sales, both Brown Paper Tickets and Eventbrite have good online platforms.

If you ask a controversial question, were you not expecting a large variety of answers? Also, I'm sure there's a pinned post somewhere about our community guidelines. This comment violates them.

Why is your bridal party responsible for the alcohol for your wedding?

My FH and I are throwing a stag (we're from PA and that's what we call them). But I don't see them as tacky. I honestly can't wait to celebrate it. I'm printing out tickets at work and having my bridal party and probably some family sell them, and of course, at the door too. I just bought colorful card stock at hobby lobby and I went to the avery website and designed my tickets online (for free)!

We also have a facebook event with all of our information regarding the stag as well!

"My mother paid for the Hall considering it was a third of the price of having a traditional bridal shower. My fiancé owns a restaurant so the food is covered. So my bridal party is only responsible for alcohol and decorations. And I would never have done this if all of them didn’t want to. And considering it’s being built like a stag you normally offer back what the party put in to throw it."

I think she is referring to the Jack and Jill.

Since you're printing your tickets at work, not sure your employer would consider this "free." Someone has to pay for the ink even if you did it with your employer's permission.

I will never think this is okay, a good fun idea. If you need a fundraiser to afford your wedding maybe don't have a big wedding. Have anwedding you can afford. This is absurd.

If everyone has one shouldn't you be able to get some guidance from married friends or family members who have had one?
I'm genuinely asking as this isn't going to go well on WW, these are frowned upon on here for many good reasons. It may be more helpful to seek this specific advice from your loved ones.

Also are you British or Canadian? These sorts of parties are not popular in the US.

    1. Never said I was printing the tickets for free. I was talking about the website I used to design them.
    2. Why question me when this isn’t even my post?

Because this is an open forum for us to dialogue with each other. It would be very surprising to me that you actually reimbursed or paid your employer to print out your tickets at work, so I could see why in your mind this was "free" - even if you were just referring to the design. If that were the case, why even mention at all that you printed the tickets out at work if it wasn't free? As an attorney who represents employers in such matters, it just stood out to me.

Because the OP mentioned online ticket buying, so I was telling her how I’m printing mine out.

Got it. So printing them at home or a local office supply store like Staples wasn't an option?

I did not attack you over where you were printing things, you must be misremembering. I spoke nicely to you, I did not attack and offered genuine advice. People aren't ignorant, that's a major reach. You still haven't answered why your network can't assist you with this as you claim they have all participated in such activities.

It it must be time for you to retire for the evening.

What is your deal? Of course that’s an option, just because I didn’t mention printing them at home or at Staples means it’s not an option for the OP?
