Is this baseball themed wedding idea taking it too far?

Okay, so...I want my baseball wedding to still be classy so please let me know if this idea is going too far. I've been on the hunt for a ring bearer's pillow but they're overpriced in my opinion and I can't find one I like anyhow so I was thinking, maybe I can have my ring bearer carry a catcher's...

I've been on the hunt for a ring bearer's pillow but they're overpriced in my opinion and I can't find one I like anyhow so I was thinking, maybe I can have my ring bearer carry a catcher's mitt instead of a pillow. I would sew a pretty ribbon in the middle of the mitt in my wedding colors. What do you guys think? Btw..most of my "baseball" touches are for the reception. The only baseball touch I have for the ceremony is that the programs will be pennants. I want to keep the ceremony pretty. Smiley smile

I think your ring mitt idea is so cute! Not tacky at all Smiley smile You should try to find an old gnarly one like from Sandlot on ebay or craigslist. I love stuff like that! Good idea girl.

That's definately not taking it too far. I think it's really unique and so not cookie cutter. I don't think it is cheesy or anything. It's putting your own spin on things and representing you and your soon to be husband. My nephew is my ringbearer and loves T-Ball. I'd think he's love the idea. It doesn't fit my wedding but works well for yours.

Ditmara- I think that is super cute, I was gonna second Meghan with a white glove but since you found one that fits your colors, thats perfect, I dont think it would look tacky, and you have the skills to make that elegant so go for it chika =D

I have yet to read any of the comments, but I'm seen the word "tacky" used a lot. Hahha

I don't think it's tacky at all! I LOVE the idea, actually. And the picture of the little ring bearer you posted is just too precious!

I'm actually crazy about the whole baseball theme! I think it's adorable. It fits the two of you as a couple and it will make your wedding stand apart from others. Whatcha doing for ceneterpieces?

I know my problem is the cost of the bear. I love baseball and so does my FH. We planned to have our wedding right before opening day and hit all teh major parks on the West Coast from SD to Seattle. My theme is more in the reception too. But love the idea of my then 4 yr carring a bear down the aisle as ring bearer.

@Courtney I love that cake you posted in fact its our insperation ofr our wedding cake.

I'm happy to hear that my ideas I've posted so far aren't overdoing it. Smiley smile

@MzSunshine...I don't know if I'll "win" with my gray/white glove I found...FS loves the idea of the catcher's mitt...but..like Valerie suggested...he wants to use an old beat up mitt as well. It may work..the pic of the ring bearer I posted has the same idea.

@Anren...my centerpieces are just pretty flowers in a bubble bowl. Off white roses, daisies and tulips and will have curly sparkly royal blue sticks sticking our of the centerpiece and blue pebbles inside the bowl. I love flowers and wanted to keep my flowers pretty so I avoided using baseball related items with it.

    @tee..."You're killin' me Smalls"

@Ditmara-Do you have a Play it Again Sports near you? They always have used items there, already broken in, or a great time of year to try a flea market.

Ditmara I seen that greyish blue color for kids gloves at Some of the Major retailers. If you look now you probally find them discounted since its almost football season.

I think it so cute....however if you are getting married in a church and there is no other "baseball" touches there, ppl might not get it. Also you have to think of the pictures. I am also doing a touch of baseball in my wedding. My FH and I are huge NY mets fans. I booked Mr. Met to greet my guests into my cocktail hour. I like the mit but you have to ask yourself if it fits in a church, and will ppl get it?

Mrs. Turner2 be I love the mitt idea and the baseball theme its very non traditional. I think what courtney was saying was that if its over themed. But it seems to me you don't want that to happen cause I remember your post about being worried guests would come in with jeans on and a jersey so sounds like you got this under control lol. But I love the little baseball mitt its sweet. Truthfully I am tired of the classic ring pillow. But if you can't do the mitt try adding the colors of your team to the ring boy pillow..

I love the mitt idea too. But I don't think you should do anything to the mitt. Ribbons/bows or anything extra will make it look weird IMO.

I think the mitt idea is cute. I also know a bride who wore baseball cleats (and so did her bridesmaids) to the wedding. It sounds crazy, but they were really cute cleats!
