Is there a special pill or something to prevent your period from coming on your wedding and honeymoon?

Emma, on May 4, 2014 at 11:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 39

I have an appointment with the gynecologist tomorrow. I'm going because I need an advice on what to do during my wedding/honeymoon. I'm irregular with my period so I have NO IDEA when it's coming this month. My wedding is in June and the past two months it came in the middle of the month but sometimes it changes and it will be so bad if it comes during my wedding. I will feel uncomfortable and I won't be able to swim on my honeymoon or anything... Are there any pills I can take? If so, which are they? Am I doing the right thing by talking to a gynecologist about it or there's nothing I can do? I've never taken birth control pills or anything.

There is a pill that they can prescribe but the gynecologist may just give you birth control to take and skip the placebo pills to delay your cycle.

You can manipulate it with bc but with less than 2 months to go, it may be too late to change your cycle.

Birth control. But you're honestly too late to use that.

It's not that hard to swim or have sex while having your period. Your honeymoon should be fine.

You may be able to change it with birth control... you could basically manipulate it. I just went through this last month talking to my gyno about it but i can not remember the other options i veto-ed the other option I didn't like the side effects. if you are currently on you period I think you still have time to manipulate it.

If you're already irregular, most pills won't work. When I did the depo shot, it worked immediately. No period while I was on it, but I gained weight and was always hungry so I stopped taking it after 3 months. It may or may not be the trick at least for your wedding/honeymoon.

I hope it doesn't come! I started on the Nuva ring for this exact reason. I'm getting married July 12 and hope it works in time!

Why can't you swim? Just use a tampon.

Birth control, but it might be too late for that for you. Can't you use a tampon if you swim? It's really not bad.

Yeah, I don't see why you can't swim with your period? Use a tampon or a cup, you'll be good to go.

    Why can't you swim?!

I was irregular before I started BC and while taking the pills I never got my period.

I skip the placebo when I don't want to get my period.

Plan B over the counter pill . Take it at least 1 week before you start your cycle.

Talk to a gyno. Do not take advice from us here at WW beyond what I've mentioned. There are already some horrific suggestions.

Birth control. but Have you ever heard of the Diva Cup its actually better that using a tampon if you want to swim and have your period. You can keep it on for 12 hours at a time and you don't leak if you put it on right.

I wouldn't mess around with anything chemical so close to your wedding because it can affect your mood, make you emotional, and make your day really bad. Just do what you usually do, pack some ibuprofin, and have fun anyway.

@Mina Really? That's a little childish. A helpful suggestion would have been more worth your time here.

It might be a too late but you can try birth control pills. Once in a great while I will skip the placebo pills in the pack and therefore skip my period if there is something extra special going on.

I have also been on the depo provera shot which I did not bleed on at all. I have to say though that some girls experience bleeding on the shot... and there's really no way to tell how your body will respond.

There are a lot of options and your doctor should be able to walk you through them tomorrow Smiley smile

A girlfriend of mine took a pill to start her period earlier than it normally would so it would be over before her vacation, I'm not sure what it was called but it would definitely be worth talking to your doctor about. If you do end up having your monthly while at your wedding or on your honeymoon, you can still enjoy yourself. Try not to stress over it too much.
